There were times that you were positive Sasuke hated you.

Not that it mattered too much. It's not that you and Sasuke were ever close. It just tended to hurt your feelings whenever you would pass him on the street, and he would send you a glare that could kill if looks ever could. You did harbour slight feelings for him, after all.

And it's not that anyone else was of any help. Sakura was near-obsessed with her teammate and would tell you that he just hated you. Shino and Neji wouldn't say anything, and Shikamaru said that worrying is troublesome and a waste of time. Kiba would just laugh, and Sai knew nothing about human emotions. Ino was a bit of help, although, in the end, she was clueless, too.

Naruto was just as curious as you were, and that Sasuke just did that to everyone. You were inclined to believe him, but you weren't so sure. And you didn't know any of the others well enough to ask them for advice.

Your teammates, Kenta and Satomi, weren't of any help, either. You didn't think they would be, as Kenta had a bit of a thick skull. Satomi, as intelligent as she was, could barely recognize Sasuke on the street if she saw him, let alone tell you why he was acting so strangely.

So you were often left alone to deal with your troubles. You contemplated going to the Uchiha compound and simply asking Itachi or even Shisui if they knew anything. Still, there was a high chance that Sasuke would be with them, and you didn't want to risk running into him.

The next time you saw Sasuke would be when you were at the market.

You were there running errands for your mother. When you saw the boy, you assumed he was there for the same reason.

"Sasuke," you greeted him with a curt nod, "it's nice to see you."

"Pleasure," he grunted in response, very clearly having a sarcastic tone. Your eyes darted away to the produce you were supposed to be getting, quickly grabbing a couple and shoving them into your basket. "Are you going to be at Ichiraku's with the rest of us this weekend?" You asked, trying to make small talk.

He shrugged. "If Naruto or Sakura manages to drag me."

At the mention of Sakura, you felt your heart sink. You understood that she was his teammate and had been since you were all 12, but sometimes, the girl could get underneath your skin. She always boasted about how close she and Sasuke were whenever you both hung out with Ino, Hinata, Tenten, and Satomi. It used to get on Ino's nerves, but it doesn't anymore. You weren't sure why, though.

"That's... fair enough. I'll see you around." And before he could respond, you speed-walked away, wanting to leave the market as soon as possible.

When you left the market, Sakura was standing at the entrance. "Y/N, have you seen Sasuke?" she asked. "I need to talk to him."

"He's in there," you gestured to the entrance of the building. "Now leave me be. I have errands to run."

She did as you asked and left you alone.

You, Kenta, and Satomi decided to make your way to Ichiraku's together. Coincidentally, the three of you lived in the same neighbourhood. That meant that you spent a fair amount of time together even before you had to reintroduce yourselves at the Academy when you were children.

"I'm excited, are you?" Satomi asked with a gleam in her eye. "I hope Shino's there!"

Kenta simply groaned. "You never stop talking about that insect boy. What's so special about him, anyway?"

You laughed at Kenta's obliviousness to Satomi's crush on Shino. However, when Satomi began to glare at you, you shut up.

It wasn't long before you made your way to the little ramen shop in town. However, to your surprise, you were making your way to Naruto's apartment. Ino explained that since Naruto lived alone, you weren't likely to be bothered by any adults. However, you'd need a couple of people to go and get the ramen that the host of your get-together so desperately wanted. Shrugging, you volunteered to go.

Hearing you, Naruto began to shout. "Great! You and Sasuke can go!"

When your eyes widened in shock, you began to stutter that it was fine. However, Shikamaru then added that there was no way you'd be able to carry all the ramen yourself. Satomi, sensing your troubles, offered to go with you so that there'd be no conflict.

Sasuke himself even spoke up on the matter. "There's no way I'd want to be alone with her," he responded with his eyes narrowed.

Frowning, you sighed. "Whatever. I'm going to get the ramen. I don't care if I have company or not." You then walked off, leaving the others to deal with the current situation.

When you were sitting at the counter waiting for your orders, you heard someone run up behind you. You greeted the person, although not knowing who it was.

This problem resolved itself when you heard the voice of Sasuke say hello to you in return.

"I thought you didn't want to be alone with me," you spat, upset with how he had acted towards you.

"It's not that. It's that I can't be alone with you," Sasuke muttered under his breath.

"Why? I didn't file anything against you," you replied. "You can do what you want."

"You don't know what you do to me, do you?" He asked, grabbing you by the shirt to make you face him.

"What on earth are you talking about? Sometimes I wonder if you even like me... it sure feels like you hate me sometimes." You raised an eyebrow, backing away from his grip.

"I'm not sure what's happening. You make me feel things I can't understand. I get chest pains around you. I don't even know why I'm telling you this. It's probably just an allergy to the material of your clothes."

You laughed. "Sasuke, that's not it at all. You're in love. I get the same feelings around you, too."

He stood still for a couple minutes before pulling you close to him. "That settles it, then."

"What settles what?" You looked up at him.

"It settles the fact that you're now mine."
