CHAPTER 2: UNEDITED
Dudley had left me confused. I mean for starters where on earth did the wind in the classroom come from, and why was Dudley acting scared of me, as if I was the one who caused it... and why did he say that I was 'like Harry'. What did that even mean. Harry is Harry, he is a smart, glasses wearing boy that lost his luck early getting stuck with the Dursley's.
In all honesty Harry was my favourite extended family member, despite only seeing him briefly at Christmas and family events, he was always full of amazing fantasy-filled stories and adventures with all sorts of made up creatures like dragons and goblins. His stories reminded of a grandad in the nicest way possible... an old man trapped in a young boy's body. But we were honestly not that much alike, so I have no idea what Dudley was even on about.
It was safe to say that I couldn't focus on my first lesson I had had today, and I definitely would not be able to focus on the rest of the lessons I had in my timetable.
I was currently sat on one of the benches in the courtyard, waiting for my friends to appear from their first class. Marie Beckham and Susan Rhodes. Lucky for some, Marie and Susan had every single one of their classes together, while I only had one class that I shared with the two, Physical Education. Luckily, it was probably the one class I could get away with chatting to them all lesson as our teacher would often tell us to group up and devise a workout or play some meaningless sport like dodge ball or queen ball. Well, I say meaningless, but queen ball is actually quite fun, not that I would ever admit that to our teacher.
I spot the two of them in the crowd of students leaving through the large glass doors and I give them a wave.
Marie is a tall slim girl, growing up she was often bullied by some of the boys for being 'lanky' but now she's grown into her figure, with dark choppy hair and a full fringe she is truly model worthy. Susan too is beautiful, certainly not as tall as Marie, she is a short blonde with a very innocent face that definitely did not match her fiery temper.
"Happy Birthday!" Marie squealed as she captured me in a hug, and Susan waved a gift back at me as she stepped away.
"We clubbed together!" Susan said, handing me the bag. I took it from her excitedly, placing it on the bench before I dug into the bag. I gasped as I pulled out the gift. A polaroid camera.
"GUYS! Thank you so much!" I nearly cried, taking the two girls into my arms and hugging them tightly.
"We're sorry it's not new." Marie said, "The new cameras were just so expensive, but we knew you really wanted one, so we got it down at blooming antiques. It still works amazingly though!" She rushed, and I shook my head.
"It's amazing! I love it!" I reassured her, "Besides, age just gives it character" I smiled, fiddling around with it.
"We already put some film in it too." Susan added, pointing at the camera.
I huddled the two together, "Come on, let me get a photo of you both, I'll pin it to my wall!" I ushered, "Smile!" I cheered, taking the photo, and the film began to pop out the bottom. I pulled out the photo, and gave it waft. "I know I already said this but thank you so much guys!" I said, pulling them both once more into a hug, "I love you guys!"
"Love you too!" Both Marie and Susan said, wrapping their arms around me too.
When I arrive home after school my dad's car is already in the driveway, which was unusual as he isn't normally home from work until at least 6. Walking into the house I can hear voices coming from the kitchen. Two belonging to my parents and one of an older man that I do not recognise.
