When Luke opened up, he looked particularly good today.
I didn't know what it was, the hair or the clothes. He looked just the same but at the time-- sorry for the contradiction... different.
I also greedily inhaled his scent as he drew me in for a brief hug on the door which made me feel like a German Shepard.
I looked at his apartment that I had been in a couple of times and admired it. "I'm still jealous. Your apartment is beautiful."
"Thanks. I mean it's small but it'll do."
"Small?" I rolled my eyes. "Typical rich kid."
"Hey, I'm not a rich kid."
I was just about to object him on that but then I noticed a very peculiarly familiar figure sitting legs open wide on the couch.
Shawn.
My face froze at a are-you-fucking-kidding-me smile.
"What is he doing here?" I whispered to Luke.
"I don't know. He said he's here to see Carl when I clearly told him that he's not coming." He whispered and I could see that he was annoyed with Shawn's presence almost as much as I was.
"Argh. He's so annoying, promise me you'll ignore everything he tells you during the date?"
"I'm already ten steps ahead of you." He said slyly, fixiating his glasses cheekily.
"And that's why you're one of the few people that don't annoy me."
Thank goodness he agreed. I didn't want Shawn to accidentally slip intel of the nature of our relationship to Luke. I'd literally drop dead.
"Anyway, let me go over and bring out dinner. I tried to recreate your favourite delicacy."
"Quesadillas?"
"No."
"Empanadas?"
"Cool down. I'm not a miracle worker. I just made my mom's pasta."
"Ohhh. I love the way your mom makes them." I cheered. Then I looked sideways and leaned into him. "I didn't say this but your mom's pasta is better than my mom's."
He gasped. "You pig. I should have got that on camera."
"You shoulda. You coulda. But you didn't." I said as he placed my dish in front of me.
I gave a mini cheer before my fork stabbed the pasta.
"You're not wasting anytime, are you?"
I nodded as I chewed. Mini dancing.
"How is it?" He asked.
I smiled and looked at him with mischief dancing in my eyes.
"They are not as good as they would be if your mom made them. Still good though. But the bananas you added, that totally saved you. I'd give you a nine out of a ten."
"I was expecting you to say something like 'it's good'. But that... that works too." He smiled as he sat.
"You know me, I'm critical of my food." I smiled.
"So, what are we eating today?" Shawn interjected as he took a seat at the table and looked at us as though we were expecting to serve him."
"Pasta huh? My favourite."
