Ch. 11 "A Friend"

                                                  Shadow POV 

It has been a few days since I was introduced to the lost boys, currently Peter is playing his flue, as the boys danced around the fire having a grand old time, 

I sat on a log indian style as I sharpened a arrow, 

All the boys seem very nice but I'm not telling them that, I admit nothing, 

The thing is these boys were brought here because they felt lost and unloved, so why am I here, sure I had no one, and sure I made it my thing to always survive, 

But when I was pushed through that portal, I didn't feel lost or unloved, I felt complete I was ready to die, 

But I ended up landing here, it is a very odd thing, 

I tap the tip of my arrow with my finger, seems sharp enough, 

I put it in my quiver and pull out another dull arrow and start to sharpen that one, 

The other thing that bugs me, is these boys they are care free, celebrate every night, play games have fun, 

I don't know what any of that is, why celebrate for no apparent reason, why play games?  but then again as a child I was based on nothing but survival, 

It was either survive or die, 

"You seem deep in thought," I heard a familiar voice say 

I look and see Felix sitting next to me, 

"What makes you say that?' I said 

"You have been glaring at your arrow for the past five minutes," He said chuckling 

I nodded 

I shrugged, 

I decided to change the subject, 

"How about we go hunting it's been a while since I shot an arrow," I said 

"Sure, I know you are changing the subject, but when your ready to talk I'm here," He said bluntly 

You see since I saved Felix, he has made a few attempts to get to know me better, but that mission is better said than done, I've let too many people in to quickly only for them to stab you in the back, 

"We'll be back Pan," Felix said 

Peter nodded

With that me and Felix left camp, you see Peter, Felix and the boys think I'm only skilled in weapons but I'm so much more than that, 

We walked in the dense forest, I crouch to the ground moving some leaves from the ground and see Tracks, 

"Looks like deer," I said 

"You can track?" He said 

I nodded, 

"Shadow not everyone is going to hurt you," Felix said from beside me, 

I looked a little taken back then regained my composure, 

"What makes you think I've been hurt," I said as we continued to walk, 

"Your eyes say it all," He said 

I arched my brow, 

"I guess you could say I'm observant," He said 

I sighed, 

"You never give up do you?" I said 

He chuckled, 

"you think I don't give up? you should see Pan when he's after something he wants," Felix said 

"I can imagine," I said as I chuckled a little, 

"Wow was that a chuckle?" He said 

"Don't let it go to your head," I said 

"Look shadow-" He said 

"Shhh,"  I said pressing my finger to my lips 

I pointed to the deer, 

He nodded 

I crouched down, I pulled the string to my bow back with a arrow in it and shallowed my breathing, 

taking aim then releasing the arrow the deer fell down to the ground dead, 

We walk to the deer and My arrow went through one eye and out the other, 

"How the hell did you manage that?" Felix said surprised 

I just shrugged, 

"What can I say I'm a good shot," I said 

"No, I'm a good shot that was an impossible shot," Felix said 

I smirked 

"Is that a smirk I see," Felix asked 

"No," I said returning to my blank face 

"I think I did see a smirk," He said 

"It must be dark because I'm not smirking," I said 

"But you were," He said 

i just rolled my eyes, 

"Just help me," I said 

"As you wish, " He said 

He picked up the deer and we started walking back, 

It was quiet as we walked, 

"It's new to me," I said 

He looked at me confused, 

"Not being chased, the relaxed feel of this place," I said 

I didn't look at him I kept looking ahead, 

"This place is the first place I've come to that I didn't feel like I was being hunted," I said 

"What are you saying?" He asked 

"Sigh I'm saying that my entire life has been based off of survival," I said 

"Shit I didn't know," He said 

"And don't you dare tell anyone or I'll kill you myself,' I mumbled 

He chucked 

"You have my word, hummingbird," He said 

"What?" I arched my brow

"Fast and deadly just like a hummingbird," He smirked 

I just rolled my eyes, 

We get to camp, 

"Whoa Felix you got a big one!" Ace said 

"And right in the eyes!" Hunter said 

"How did you do that!?" Kevin yelled 

"It wasn't me," Felix chuckled 

"Compliments of Shadow," Felix said 

They all looked at me with surprise 

"Looks like Shadow got us our dinner," Peter said wrapping a arm around my shoulders, 

"Well can't let you have all the fun," I said pushing his arm off, 

"What you call hunting fun?" Peter asked 

"Yeah, and what would you call fun?" I said 

He smirked 

"We can show you that can't we boys!" Peter said 

"Yeah!!" They all cheered
