I hope for a better time,
A time where the government wouldn’t look at their obligations as compromises to the nation,
A time where our dreams would forge progress and not lay lifeless on banners or be immortalized in slogans,
A time where diversity isn’t seen as a curse and we are free from the plague of tribalism,
A time where a call for justice wouldn’t be answered with violence,
Perhaps, even a time where we would be able to patent our inventions,
A time where the price of my phone wouldn’t be the cause of my death,
A time where 24 hours’ electricity isn’t a luxury,
A time where the value of our currency wouldn’t change like chameleons,
A time where I can walk into a store without fear of being cheated,
A time where I could proudly wear something that was made in Nigeria,
A time where people are appreciated more than cars and traditions,
A time where being a Nigerian wouldn't be a deterrent to chase my dreams.
