Chapter Two

Being a vampire was surprisingly easy.

Madali lang when you have a Pureblood to teach you.

Nox was stern when it came to explaining and guiding. It was for her own good, he said. He answered Amary's every question, yes even the stupid ones, with a patience that could match a saint's. And he also gave her freedom to go around and do what the heck she wants in the house because it will be a long time until she steps foot outside and see sunlight.

And speaking of sunlight, totoo palang bawal ma-expose sa sunlight ang vampires.

Amary hasn't seen the sun in so long she worries na kulang na siya sa Vitamin D. Do vampires worry about that stuff?

"Don't even think about it." Nox warned when Amary tried to peek at the sunset through the blacked-out curtains and closed glass window.

Amary pouts and plops back to the sofa where she was sitting a few minutes ago. She's having a hard time adjusting her body clock, it's only been two weeks but still. She has been awake for almost 48 hours now.

Nox, out of pity, is staying up with her. Busy ito ngayon with something on his iPad.

"This sucks." Amary whined.

Nox only pats her head lightly not even sparing her a glance. "You'll get used to it."

Amary's broken body clock was fixed the following day. She was out like a light when the fatigue took a toll on her body. From then, she has been comfortably following a sleeping schedule. Sleeping at dawn and waking up at dusk, just the right time to see the last bit of light kiss nature.

She needs to follow this kind of sleeping schedule hangga't hindi pa siya pwede lumabas. Nox informed her that it will change once she's done with the transition and she is not looking forward to that. She's also been under a strict blood diet for a month now. Sabi ni Nox she will be allowed to eat real food again once she doesn't puke at the mere smell of it.

That's probably one of the saddest parts of transitioning. Na-mi-miss na niya kumain ng matamis! Seeing cooking shows on TV making desserts was enough to make her tear up. Wala naman siyang magagawa, kahit amoy nga lang ng chicken wings na inuwi ni Nox noong isang gabi parang gusto na niyang sumuka.

Besides watching TV, Amary has been killing time by reading every interesting book she sees at Nox's library. Oo, ginagamit niya talaga ang free pass niya sa buong bahay na 'to. Ang bawal lang naman niyang pasukin ay ang sunroom, baka bigla siyang masunog doon. Pinagbabawalan lang talaga siya lumabas muna for the sake of the nearby humans and herself, too. Nox didn't want to risk anything.

Amary was also informed na wala pala sila sa city, they're not in the countryside either like she initially thought after Nox's statement. They're living in a wide neighborhood for vampires at the outskirts of Archeron. Pero kahit ano'ng silip ni Amary sa bintana tuwing gabi wala talaga siyang natatanaw na kapitbahay. Puro puno lang sa di kalayuan at pool sa baba (na gustong-gusto na niyang langyuan unang kita palang niya).

She couldn't wait to step outside again. She's barely three months in, hanggang kailan pa kaya siya maghihintay?

Nilingon ni Amary si Nox na busy na naman mag check ng news sa iPad. They have drama series playing on TV but it wasn't interesting enough to hold their attention. Nox bought a new phone and her own iPad to keep her entertained pag wala siyang kasama sa bahay na hindi naman madalas since he is almost always at home. Naubusan na rin siya ng tanong about what happened that night. The hazy parts of it were already answered by her maker.
