Blink

Part 3

She returned to her father’s desk and prepared herself for whatever that was in the envelope that appeared suddenly at the doorstep. She opened it ever so gently. Inside it, she took out a DVD and frantically put it in her laptop to watch. Shockingly, her father appeared on screen.

        “Hello, this is Thomas Sangster. I don’t know who’s watching this video right now, but I hope I’m talking to the right person. Thomas, this is you speaking from the past. Don’t be alarmed. I got sent back in time by The Weeping Angels. I went into the forest one day, trying to find them, and I didn’t know that…”

        There was a pause. He looked like he’s trying to keep his composure and control himself from crying. Alas, Olivia was already crying and placing her palm on the laptop screen, missing her father terribly.

        “…I didn’t know they were real! I hope this video arrived at the right time. Please, Thomas, I beg of you. DO NOT go out and find The Weeping Angels! Save yourself. Forget about writing the next bestseller. Think about your family, especially OUR sweet little Olivia,”

        While the video was still playing, Olivia searched for anything about these ‘Weeping Angels’ her father mentioned about. After a while, she found a blue handwritten diary belonged to someone with the initials ‘R.S.’. She read a few entries, while her father continued to talk in the video.

        “Those angels can zap you into the past with just one touch and let you live out your life until your eventual death. When you die in the past, they’ll consume the energy of your present life. So please, if you ever encounter them, DON’T blink. Blink once and you’re dead! They’re faster than you think. Don’t turn away. Don’t look away. Just… DO. NOT. Blink!”

        “But how do I kill them?” Olivia asked her father inside the computer, as if he can hear her.

        The diary showed an illustration of those ‘Weeping Angels’, which looked innocently beautiful when your eyes fix on them, but terrifying – with sharp fangs and pointy fingers – when you close your eyes.
