Fourteen

The last thing Aimee remembered was holding Anna's hand in the elevator and the security guard throwing a metal ball into the elevator as it was about to close.

"Anna?" She said as she slowly opened her eyes to look around.
What she saw almost made her scream. The room was filled with over forty people lying still. She quickly stood up to confirm if the people were dead by touching the neck of the guy who was beside her, luckily, she felt a pulse which relieved her of her slightest worries.
" Where's Anna? " She thought to herself as she searched the entire room looking at everyone's face and size looking for Anna but she was not in the room.

She soon realized what the little girl said about the bad guys taking some people was true. Then ,she remembered Anna had pointed to a door while they were on the ground floor, so she thought she was in the room behind the door.

Aimee quickly headed for the door but on getting to the door,she heard someone coughing,

"Help please"

Aimee had doubts about helping the girl who had called for help but she wasn't sure of the fate of the people who were still unconscious in the room. So, if she could at least save one person, she would.

" What happened? What's going on? " Aimee asked the girl after helping her to her feet. Aimee's eyes were already filled with tears as she was really scared.

"The bank...*coughs* the bank is being robbed" the girl replied.

"What?? How??" Aimee was confused.

" It was a planned. The robbers...they had help from the inside. So, no one noticed when they got in. It was meant to be a clean robbery. Do you have your phone with you??
Call the cops" the girl said as she tried to catch her breath.

Aimee was panicking and forgot she had put her portable GPS phone(satellite phone) in her pocket earlier.

"No...I need to get to my office. My phone's in my bag" she said as she headed towards the door again.
When she opened the door, she found out she was not at the ground floor but the last floor. The bank hall way was totally empty but that was not her problem at the moment. She wanted to be sure Anna was safe.
She got into the elevator and headed for the fifth floor. As soon as she got there, she heard whispers of two men conversing. She was really curious and walked silently towards the source of the sound and decided to eavesdrop.

" What do you mean he is not around??"

" I'm certain. Ben saw his car leaving before we entered"

" Damn! What about the little girl? We could use her as collateral to ask for a ransom as from the bank manager as he left her. I can't leave this bank empty handed"

" She's in the truck already"

" Good and her mother?"

"Same, she's unconscious as well"

After some time, Aimee was still waiting for the first voice to reply but it didn't. Her heart was beating so fast that she was trying to catch her breath.
Then the voice spoke again as if on a call,

" Yes, he left so we couldn't access the safe without his fingerprint, okay, plan b it is" he said and was quiet for a while before speaking up again,

"Go to the rooms and randomly pick twelve people, and don't forget Alicia... she's in the last floor"

"Okay Boss"

"If the greedy manager doesn't agree to save his mistress and child, we will blackmail him and as well collect ransome from the families of our hostages"

Aimee didn't hear voices again as footsteps approached the door and grew louder each second. She quickly entered the next room that was empty.
Immediately she got in, a tall masculine man walked out of the room towards the elevator. When she was sure the elevator had closed, Aimee swiftly left the empty room she had hidden and moved as quietly as she could towards her office. When she got to the office, Henry was no where to be found. The office was totally empty and quiet like a graveyard. Spotting her bag, she ran to her table were her bag was seated and searched hastily as her hands were shaky as well.

Aimee's fear increased each passing minute. She was really scared,she wished she had listened to Joe earlier on waiting till the next day. What has she gotten herself into?

"Oh, thank God" she gasped as she saw her phone and reached for it.

She wanted to call Joe but she thought he wouldn't pick as he said he had a business call earlier so she decided to call Mrs Martha.

She dialed her grandma's number but she was not answering her phone,

"Come on, come on " she whispered as she redialed the number as her hands were shaking.

"Hello, Aimee my dear" Mrs Martha said as she finally picked the call.
Aimee was about replying to her grandma when a voice from behind startled her, causing her to freeze and her phone to slip off her hand.

"Hey!!"the voice had called from behind.

"Hello, Hello Aimee" Mrs Martha kept saying over the phone.

Aimee turned towards the direction of the voice and saw the man's face, he immediately used a clothing soaked in chloroform to knock her out.

"Who is she Boss?"

"I don't know her, she saw my face. I would have killed her but according to the Main Boss's instructions, no killings so I knocked her out"

"Okay boss,we are ready to go"

"How many hostages do we have in total?"

"14"

"Good let's go before our sleeping dogs inside the bank wake up to see the manager's mistress you mistakenly killed" the middle aged man who was addressed boss said in anger and disappointment. " Besides, the police will soon be on their way as the bank has been shut for over twenty minutes"

"Got it Boss"

"Tell others in the bank to camouflage as customers who were victim of the incident and drive safely. You know where to meet" the Boss said as he entered his bike and zoomed off.

The truck was at the bank's back exit. They had taken fourteen people from the bank- eight females and six males.
