"Mom-"
"Shut up."
Sparrow was hidden in Dream's pocket.
When the Park ranger called his dad and no one picked up, he called his mom.
She came almost immediately. They got into her silver Station-wagon, and she didn't talk the whole ride.
"Mom, I-"
"RUNNING AWAY LIKE THAT WAS NOT FUNNY. AND- AND THEN I FIND OUT YOU WERE POACHING WILDLIFE?!"
"I wasn't.... It had a hurt wing! I was taking it back to the forest." He was careful to use the same story that he did with the Park ranger.
"AND THAT POOR PARK RANGER, FOLLOWING YOU ALL THAT WAY AFTER YOU STEPPED ON HIS FOOT! HE WAS JUST TRYING TO HELP THE BIRD YOU SMUGGLED!"
Dream was fuming. I never stepped on his foot! Thought Dream furiously.
"That Park ranger is a jerk! I never stepped on his foot!"
"Well..." Ms. Kanaoepen, for reasons she didn't know, had made that up to make herself feel better. "Uh, YES YOU DID, HE TOLD ME!"
"What the hell, mom, I was there."
"N-not when you..uh..ran off into the forest!"
"HE WAS HOLDING MY ARM!"
"....."
"MOM, I CAN'T- are you making this up?"
Kaitlyn pursed her lips. "No, no I would never-"
"Stop the car."
"Dream, no! Why would I-"
"STOP THE CAR."
Kaitlyn pulled over, and Dream got out.
"I'm going away."
"No you're not! I'll stop you!" She began to get out of the car.
"I'm going to go live with dad's girlfriend."
He began running down the street.
