"What?!" Khao exclaimed after he heard everything that Win just told him. He never knew that he was being chased by annoying someone, according to him, in their school and yet it happened not just once. They are in Win's room, and Khao is walking back and forth and stops, sits besides him who is now busying himself from reading some fictional books about mermaid again.
"Oh, Win! Why didn't you tell me this earlier?" Khao knitting his brows, crossing his arms on his chest and looking at him. Waiting for him to explain why he just tell him after those things happened to him. He became worried after hearing it. Afraid that maybe he would feel uncomfortable to attend school if he will face that particular guy next time.
"I know you're worrying but please you don't have to. I'm grown-up and can handle myself on my own now." Win calmly said still eyes on the book he's reading.
"But look, whoever that is maybe he have some bad intentions towards you, you know?"
"But I'm okay. See? Nothing bad happened to me except that he has my journal with him." Thinking about it again, he close the book with sadness on his face. Khao felt him, then scoots over him and pats his head softly.
"Okay, I'll go and find him and ask him to return it to you as soon as possible. So stop making that face again. I'm not used to see that face of yours after a very, very long time of sleeping in the depth of your soul." He shivers when he imagined Win the first time he met him.
Win who's now looking at his friend's reaction, get a pillow that was silently lying on the sofa he was sitting in, and throw it at him.
"What are you talking about? Am I that really bad that time?" He asked while chuckling. He's now comfortably lying his back on the sofa and feels like his eyes were getting heavier. He just felt the tiredness for one whole week going to school, doing his research, revising his lessons and preparing himself for the first time for his first part-time job.
"Actually, yes!" Khao blurted out.
"What?!" Win suddenly got up and ready to throw another pillow. His sleepiness dissappear after hearing him say that. He knows he just making fun of him. They laughed to their silliness afterwards.
"But seriously Win, I thought you were that brat rich kid who just doesn't want to associate with some ordinary kid like me." Khao sat on the couch adjacent to where he was sitting while Win is laying back with a pillow on his chest, hands on his forehead, eyes on the ceiling.
"I don't want them to see me this way." Win said in a low voice.
"Why? Are you still scared that those people will harm and hate you? That they will say bad words that might hurt you again?" Khao tries to not mention it but it's too late for him. He already said it. Worriedly he glance at Win, who's not moving but he knows he heard him.
"Yes. Is that what those people say about me, right? I'm not talented, I'm worst, I'm stupid, attention-stealer, and... like you always call me, ugly duckling. Well, not that ugly but the ugliest." Win stated, laughing to his own words but Khao knows very well that he's just hiding his true feelings.
"I'll slap you if you don't stop. How many times do I have to tell you that they're all wrong. Believe me. They're just envy you for being who you are. Look at yourself. You proved them wrong." Khao stands up and pulls his arms to let him stand. Win lazily comply. Then they walk to his full length mirror standing on the corner of his room.
He let him face his own reflection and scan himself from top to bottom. Win frowned at what he saw.
"Now, tell me. Where's the ugly duckling that you're telling me?" Khao asked him, his hands on Win's shoulders. Trying to let him realize that he's not what he's been thinking of himself.
"Maybe he ran away?" Win replied back smiling at his bestfriend. Feeling glad that he had a friend that never leave him since from the start, when he feels like everyone was talking bad back at him. He's the one who keeps reminding him that there still some people who will accept him without intending to hurt him.
"Silly you." They both laughed and sit on the bed next to them.
"So how will you gonna get it from that guy? Do you know what his faculty is?"
"His name is Bright and I don't know his faculty. But instead he knows mine."
"What? But how? So he knew you?" Khao who's now lying on the bed, head resting on the pillow while playing on his phone that he was holding.
"That jerk read what's inside my journal that's why. But he never know my name. I really need to get it!" Win looks very annoyed and punches the pillow in front of him. Imagining that it was Bright he's punching.
"But how will you get it from him?" Khao asked again. Doesn't have any idea that there's still one thing that he didn't tell him.
"I-I still d-don't know..."
"You stutter. I know you're still hiding something from me."
"It's soooo annoying and I think you too don't want to know it. Wait, what time are we going out tomorrow?" Win is trying to change the topic cause he doesn't want to talk about it.
"Win!!" Khao is very persistent this day.
"It's nothing..."
"Nothing!" He cuts him off. Khao don't want to get mad at him but he can't stop himself from worrying about him after that. He's becoming overprotective.
"He said he will give it back to me if..." Hesitating if Win will continue but as what he can see by now, he don't have any other choice but tell him.
"If what?" Khao impatiently asked again.
"If I'll go out with him."
"WHAT?!" That's what comes out of his mouth.
