Chapter Five

The next day went by in a blur. Nate almost killed me with his crazy driving, Scarlett tried to climb out a window without the teacher noticing and Dylan piggybacked Nate down the hallway until a teacher stopped them giving them a very stern warning while Scarlett and I laughed.

Soon enough Nate and I were home and sitting on the couch watching SpongeBob.

"Have the floor plans we know of been sent through-" I started to ask Nate but he was cut off as his phone started to ring. It was sitting next to me so I picked it up and checked the caller ID.

"It's your girlfriend."

"Who?"

"Maria."

"Oh, right." He grabbed the phone and walked out of the room. There was a muffled sound of Nate talking for a while before a loud chuckle rang out. I glared at the TV screen angrily. It wasn't like Nate didn't have girlfriends.

There was a busty blonde that was always hanging off his arm or Chloee with two e's from the office.

So then why was I pissed off he had a girlfriend?

A few minutes later Nate came back into the room while a smile on his face. A genuine one.

"What's wrong?" He asked as I turned my glare back to the TV.

"Nothing."

"Something's wrong."

"No it isn't." I refused to look across at him.

"Are you angry?"

"No."

"Are you...jealous? Of Maria?"

"No." I said straight away. An awkward silence followed. "Seriously Nate, why would I be jealous?"

"No reason..." He trailed off. "It's just..."

"'It's just' what?" I made the mistake of turning to glare at him.

"You are angry."

"No I'm not." I snapped.

"Whatever you say."

"I'm not." I turned back to the TV and tried to work out what was happening. "And tell your stupid girlfriend not to ring during the middle of SpongeBob because I missed a big part and I don't know what is happening now." I added.

"Will do." He said sitting back on the couch next to me. I shuffled away so our legs weren't touching anymore and Nate laughed.

"You're so cute when you're angry." He cooed.

"Are you serious? You really want to provoke me right now?"

"What's wrong?" I thought you weren't angry." Nate pointed out.

"I might not be angry but it doesn't mean I won't kill you in your sleep." I threatened.

"Duly noted."

-----

By the next morning I had stopped being mad at Nate and the day passed quite normally. Everyone was excited because it was finally Friday except for Scarlett. Her mood got more and gloomier as the day progressed. Dylan told Nate it was because the anniversary of my death which was in three days.

Nate was still trying to get some information on the party on Wednesday from Dylan while I tried to find a couple whose identification we could steal.

That night Nate and I spread every floor plan and possible identification we had on the kitchen bench.

"I think we should go as Katarina and Joseph Peirce. " I stated picking up the two folders with their information and passing them to Nate.
