So Betty Buckley was in cats....I made this because she also played Miss Collins-
Carrie quietly tip-toed down the stairs, she couldn't sleep, and she wanted cuddles. She poked her head around the corner, Miss Collins was looking at a photo album. Carrie wanted to look, but she was scared to enter the room. She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out. What would she say? What if she got yelled at like her mom did?! No. This was miss Collins, and she was more of a mother to her then Margaret ever was. She took a deep breath, and then walked into the room. "Carrie...what am I gonna do with you?" Miss Collins said, softly.
"Let me stay up?" Carrie replied, sitting down on the floor and resting her head on Rita's lap. "I'm sorry, sweetheart, but I can't let you do that, you'll be really tired in the morning, then you'll get cranky." She said. Carrie whined and looked up at Miss Collins. She then looked at the photo album. "What's that..?" She asked, shyly.
"Oh, this? It's a photo album from when I was on broadway in a show called cats..! I played a lonely cat, she was kinda like the outcast of the group." Rita explained.
"Like me..." Carrie whispered. Rita giggled softly, and combed a hand through Carrie's hair. "Do you wanna look at the pictures?" She said. Carrie nodded and climbed back onto the sofa. "There's me, it was before my first curtain call, I had 10 seconds before I went on.." Miss Collins recalled. Carrie giggled. "Tired yet?" She asked. Carrie shook her head. Miss Collins nodded and continued talking about her different experiences on Broadway. Carrie started spacing out. "And then I-Carrie?"
"Ohuh?" Carrie replied.
"Tired, honey?" She asked, gently. Carrie shook her head. "Carrie. You haven't slept for three days! Why?" Miss Collins lightly scolded.
"I-I-I'm scared mama will come b-back! I don't want her to come b-back!" She yelled. "Oh, Carrie..shh...shh... you're gonna be okay..." Rita soothed, bringing Carrie into her lap and rocking her back and forth. She rubbed circles on her back. Carrie sobbed. "I-I'm sorry.." she mumbled. Miss Collins couldn't believe what she was hearing, was Carrie really apologising for being scared? "Carrie, don't apologise. You don't need to. This isn't your fault okay?" She said. Carrie nodded. Rita stroked her hair, and pulled out a music box. She let Carrie wind it up, it began to play a song, that song was memory. "Cats..!" Carrie mumbled. Miss Collins nodded. Carrie's breathing slowed down, and a small smile appeared on her face. "I wanna hear the actual song...I bet it's so cool..." she whispered. "Well, if you get to sleep tonight, and if you eat all your breakfast tomorrow, I'll show you." Miss Collins replied. Carrie just nodded, her eyelids fluttering, the song ended, Carrie was asleep. Rita looked down at the girl in her arms and smiled. She lifted her up and took her upstairs, tucking her into bed. "Sweet dreams, Carrie..." she whispered, placing a kiss on her forehead before leaving the room. Here's the performance if anyone wants it! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5mlllRdIfqw (no idea if that works) but hey!
