The tree's branches hung above us, we were in awe at the massive tree, it standing tall. Almost nothing seemed to touch it except for the air surrounding it. It gave off a sort of energy I could only describe as pure power, I felt it's aura clashing with mine like a battlefield of emotion. These caused many conflicting feelings within me that I didn't understand. Almost alien feeling.. but I didn't feel anything wrong, it was alright. I looked at Bovie who took interest in my expressions as the tree and my auras clashed.
"Mmm.. it seems to be working.. do you feel the power around us Alice? This power is because this is the grave of the fallen. Light ones that fell during the Great War." Bovie told me.
I looked at him with a shocked expression in my face. I looked around, finally taking notice to the tomb stones around the tree, the aura was clear now. The alien feelings turned to normal ones. I felt at home. Realizing this put a smile on my face.
"I feel so.. relaxed here like this place wants me here." I said
"It does Alice. It wishes to share its knowledge- its power with you! This isn't something you should pass up.. put your hand on the tree and accept the knowledge."
And so, I walked up and placed my hand upon the tree. I closed my eyes and I was then in a strange place. It was as if I was in a room made from spilled oil. The room around me was flowing, the strange substance colored a rainbow color but it was mostly white. A small spirit was floating around happily. It had a body in the shape of a baby with the ears of a hound and a long thin tail, almost as thin as a strand of dental floss. It looked like it was made from a galaxy. It looked to me, it had a small snout and smiled before flying around me happily. It sang,
"New light, last light, let me grace you with my strength! New light, last light! Let me grace you with my knowledge!" It stopped flying around me and looked at me. "Wait.... knowledge and strength don't rhyme! Silly me!"
It giggled happily, it had the voice of a little girl.
"Uhh.. I guess they don't do they-" I responded.
I never seen something with such a playful spirit. It was as happy as can be as if nothing bad ever happened in the history of forever. I smiled upon the small creature.
"I would like to have your strength and knowledge. It would really help me out."
"How bland- spice up your mouth with some happiness!" It giggled again.
I huffed.
"Look.. if I don't get this knowledge or strength, the world as you know it will cease to exist."
It looked upon me with shock.
"Corruption?! It's back?!"
I looked at it with wonder.
"Again? And how did you know about the corruption?"
It looked at me.
"No one talks to me with such a hurried voice if it wasn't!"
I sighed, wondering how much of the corruption it thought was back ..and how many times a week it thought this. It looked upon me, nodding, putting its head to mine, and memories that weren't mine flooded my head. These were memories of a war against the corruption. Many Light Ones were there fighting beings that were not themselves anymore, the vines grew on them making them insane. It was a gruesome sight. Before I knew it I took my hand off the tree with a gasp. I panted a little. It felt like I had been running for days on end. I sat down
"So? Did she teach you about the Great War?"
I looked at Bovie.
"She? Oh- uh yes.. it's.. a lot to take in right now.."
Bovie smiled at me.
"Gala has done good.. now we best be on our way! We must head to Washingvic before sunset!"
I looked at him and shrugged.
Can't I just have a break? I thought to myself before getting up and following Bovie.
By dusk we reached a small town, it was full of creatures big and small, primitive and robotic, alive and dead as spirits, all gazing at me. I was nervous but Bovie kept walking and I kept following. We would reach a small site where we set up a small camp. I laid a tent made from the very shadows Bovie was made from and I fell right asleep. I dreamed that night about the war. It wasn't a nightmare, no, I more just watched and saw what the other Light Ones did wrong and what they did right. I saw some people using light like magic, throwing disks of light that disintegrated the corrupt beings. I took everything into account. I woke up the next morning, stretching and yawning. Ready for the new day.
