Our group got up, I pretended to be one of them, I mimed like they did, not making a sound.
The bleach haired woman from the door, smirked at me and watched me carefully. She seemed to be studying my face, trying to find something. A flash of frustration flicked across her and she turned away to talk to one of the guards.
The small group of us that went down the science corridor was made up of about 12. Me, Maddy, Sam, Jim, Arden, Milly, Iggy and a few others from another year group. Only Maddy and Sam knew about my pill trick but Jim was picking up on it, he gave me a curious look.
I nodded and pointed to my mouth, and gave a thumbs up. He looked confused but nodded slowly, taking this all in. He mouthed 'Good Luck' to me, as if he'd read my mind and took Arden's hand, who squeezed it and shivered a little.
We were led to a classroom and the teacher with us opened the door and went inside, i nodded to Maddy and whispered "I'll be back, be careful" and sprinted silently to the end of the corridor and opened the door to the outside.
Sneaking along the wall, i looked around the corner and started jogging along the path. I was grateful there were no windows along this side of the building and i ran up to the entrance.
Not a single car passed me as i walked down the road, heading to the station. The road was deserted.
A chilly breeze licked my cheeks and the sky was clouding over slightly. I crossed the road and headed down Long street, there were many houses here however not a single car was in a driveway and there was no sign of life, everything was silent.
I could see the station ahead of me, the trains here weren't run by people, they had routes and they took them. I came up the road and sprinted past the empty car park and into the doors.
Mysteriously, the ticket gates were open so i walked through and waited for the Glasgow train. It was so quiet, i didn't dare make a sound, i bareley breathed as i feared the sound of my breaths could errupt something.
Suddenly the train pulled up and stopped, the doors opened as if any other train's doors may and i stepped on. This carridge was deserted, not a person in sight. Sitting o one of the seats, i pulled out my phone and replied to Fred's texts:
STANA: This is freaky, i'm on a train, its deserted, i'll be there within 4 hrs, maybe a little longer, i love you.
Looking out the window, someone could've said that everything was normal, that every child in the country wasn't having their voices taken away. My phone buzzed and i looked down.
FRED: Good, i know it is, i'm hiding out at the station, you got anyone with you?
FRED: I love you too... xx
STANA: No, i tried to take a few but i couldn't grab anyone unseen, i snuck out through a back door, we have to go back for them, we have to find a way to get this under control xx
The train stopped at a station, the doors opened, no one got on no one got off. The eerie silence penerated my ears, the hot air creating sweat patches under my arms. Yet again, my phone buzzed.
FRED: I know, i've got a group of people here with me, there's three of us, so we'll save a few more and then we can come back to your place and get some people, any people you desperately gotta get? xx
STANA: Okay, and i gotta get Maddy, Sam, Arden, Jim and Milly so far...
FRED: KK, stole some guns from the guards, but none of us know how to use them, do you?
STANA: Yep.
The rest of the train ride felt a thousand times longer than it was. But at 2:44pm i arrived at Glasgow station. Hesitantly, i stepped out and looked around. Where would he hide..? Just as i paused to think, i hand closed over my mouth and dragged me away.
I wriggled away and turned and sighed in relief. Fred. He takes my hand, not looking at me and yanks me into and alleyway and holds me against the wall, and a small smile plays on his lips.
"Stana..." He breathed
"Freddie..."
He put his lips to mine gently and pulled me closer, then pulled away.
"You don't know how long i've wanted to do that..." He sighed.
I said nothing and hugged him tight, the tears finally breaking out of my eyes.
"They were so scared" I cried "And i couldn't help them..."
"Shhhh" he said calmly, stroking my hair and standing straight "We will..."
A yell was heard from the end of the alley "Hey! Lovebirds! Get over here!"
We sprang apart and walked over to where they were hiding stairs going in a V-Shape up two sides with iron boards over the top. The entrance was a gap between one piece of iron and the wall, a short blonde stood by it grinning.
"So this is the girlfriend"
Fred nodded. "Yep"
"Hi" I said
"Hey, I'm Kate, you're Stana right?"
I nodded, standing next to Fred i couldn't see inside the small camp out. I thought i'd been discreet by peering over to get a look but Kate laughed a little.
"Come on in" She said, and climbed in. Freddie walked foreward and helped me down. I didn't need it but I didn't push him away. He climbed in after me and shoved a rock under the gap.
I looked around. The area was dimly lit by a torch, a pile of others sat next to it, as if the were waiting in line, the table that supported them looked old. Pherhaps they'd found it in a dumpster somewhere.A pile of relativeley clean pillows sat in the corner and a rug lined the floor, it had an Indian kind of pattern, a deep red, with golden swirls that looked like sixes and decorated gold circles in between. My thoughts were interrupted by Kate:
"This is Stana" She said to two other people, one younger than me, but not by much, and one the same age as Freddie and Kate.
"I'm Hillary" said the small girl, coming up to me "12 years old"
I smiled at her "Nice to meet you"
"You too"
The boy behind her stood where he was. "I'm Alex" he said, his voice was deep.
Kate grabbed a pile and put them by my feet "You said you knew how to use these?"
I looked down. In front of me lay 4 black guns. I studied them for a minute before Kate tapped her foot.
"Do you?" She asked again
"Yes"
I picked one up, it was loaded. Once we got out of the camp out, I strode back up the alleyway and into the street, i looked around for any signs of people. Not a single movement in sight. Looking behind, i could see the others following, each apart from Hillary had a gun in their hand.
Once we'd turned down another street i stopped.
"Once i fire this, we have to run, you hear me? This will attract attention"
I turned away from them to face looking down the street. With my aim on a lamp post i demonstrated how to stand and how to take safety off.
BLAM!!!
We all turned and ran and ran and ran. We ran back down the street, along the lane and into the alleyway and climbed back into the camp out. Something crashed on the lane and a voice was heard.
"POLICE!"
We all gasped. I looked around. The place under the stairs was hollow, small but Fredie saw where i looked and squished in. I yanked Hillary in and she squished up next to me. Kate sat on the other side. Alex dordalled, pushing the mat against the wall and turning off torches and bringing them in with us, he sat by the side and pulled a beige, slighly bent piece of board and leaning it over us.
The rock moved.
