James was on the plane over to New York City, quietly sleeping next to an empty seat. He was lucky to not sit beside someone for most of the trip. He felt a little sick sometimes but maybe that's just from looking down at the earth below him.

When he was finally in the state, he sat up and looked out the window, actually eager to see what was there. It was beautiful...the lights of the city were so bright and it made him feel...at peace, but something was making him terrified of coming here. Meeting his old friend, Thomas Jefferson.

Would he remember him? Would he even care? It's been years since they've seen each other...will he even recognize him? He didn't want to be exploring this city all by himself...

When he got off the plane and out of the airport, he examined his new surroundings. Skyscrapers, side shops on the street, it was all so beautiful and new to him, which that also meant he didn't know where to go.

He walked around the streets feeling helpless and lost, trying to find his way to Thomas's hotel, which he heard about online. It was one of the most fanciest, he wasn't sure if he could afford it...maybe Thomas would let him off? No James, don't think like that, of course you're going to have to pay... He thought to himself.

Several people were out today so he was feeling really self conscious, thinking people were staring at him. He hated when people stared at him...it made him feel insecure.

He figured he would eat before he saw Thomas since he already had an empty stomach. He stopped by a small restaurant on the sidewalk, opening the door and getting a table. While he waited, he took out his phone and looked at Thomas's contact. He hasn't texted him all these years...he was too scared to...

God, what will he think of me...what has he been thinking of me? Was he even thinking about me at all? I sound so selfish, shut up James... He tended to overthink alot, and this was one of his moments where he answered a question with even more questions. He probably hates me...what am I even doing here...

About 20 minutes later, he got his food and he started to eat, making sure no one was looking at him. Almost every single person in that restaurant was eating with someone else so that was a plus. He made sure to order macaroni and cheese to pack up for Thomas. He wasnt even sure if he would accept it...

He was doubting this whole trip right from the start. Maybe it was a mistake coming here. No! He couldn't think like that, of course it wasn't. He was meeting a friend he hasn't seen or talked to in years, of course it wasn't a mistake. But the thoughts always came back to him in the end...

He stood up from the table, putting the mac and cheese in their little fancy brown boxes with the logo on the top. James paid and walked out of the restaurant, going back out to seek Thomas's hotel. He passed by several dozen people, keeping his head down until he finally found the place where he was supposed to go. Thomas's hotel...

He was very nervous, waiting outside the doors. He had a feeling Thomas wouldn't like him anymore or he would be mad at him for not contacting him in some way all these years, but he came here for him...

He walked in, looking around at all the fancy things, his eyes widening a little bit. "O-oh.." he said to himself as he walked to find a seat where no one was. It was in the far back and it was quiet enough for him. He opened a book he brought and started to read the words in his head, sometimes having to read the same line over.

This was a mistake, this was a mistake, this was a mistake He kept repeating. He's going to hate me, he's going to, I know it..! He had to stop reading and message his temples to get those overwhelming thoughts out, but they still lurked in the back of his mind.

Oh Thomas, where are you...
