❝Please don't cry, Ellie. please...❞ he was inebriated, the strong smell of firewhiskey wafted into her face surrounding her in a cloud of pure heaven. His thumb traced across her skin leaving behind a trail of warmth. It pained him to see her like this yet it took his breath away, she basked in the moonlight her silver eyes glowing. How naive to let her go. Who would let her go?
The only thing she wanted, was the boy with the green eyes and he had torn out her heart and burned it at the stake. Or at least that's how she felt. Warm, on fire, her mind so muddled at the thought of those dreaded green eyes. those cursed green eyes. But she still longed for them.
Yet here she was 15 in tears because he chose another girl. And she didn't want to be angry with him, but she was. It shouldn't hurt that badly, they aren't exclusive, and they don't even have a name for the small picnics, a small kiss on the cheek here and there inching closer to his lips. The nights talking about the stars, the laughs, the holding of hands, did nothing matter. She felt like it was the end of the world. When she finally realized what she was thinking her sudden laugh cut through the air sending a chill down Fred's spine.
❝Oh my dear Freddie, if only I could.❞ Her words slurred together as she turned her head to look upon the boy with flames for hair. ❝I just don't, I don't understand Freddie-boy. I-Cho? Cho Chang of all people. I'm not saying she's not pretty, but come on! After 4 years you'd think he'd get it through that thick head of his. Am I not enough?❞ she said the last sentence with a laugh. But as quick as her laugh came a lightbulb had switched on, and a large smile erupted on her tear-streaked face.
❝What have you thought of now Ells?❞ her sudden change in mood made him smile, but he was also a little frightened. She was so bright, her own light and she seemed to outshine the moon herself. And he was scared that Harry was going to be the one to snuff it out.
❝Does Georgie clean up ni- you know what obviously look at you two. Oh, I'm gonna take their breath away, a literal belle of the ball.❞ she was giddy now her feet swinging excitedly over the emptiness below the astronomy tower. Fred took in what she had said and for a minute felt pure jealousy. If only he had waited one more day he could have been the one taking her to the Yule Ball, and not his brother. But Angelina had asked and Fred had expected Harry and Arabella to go together. It shocked everyone when he asked Cho. It had taken every last bit of his self-control and Georges to not go and fight the unrully-haired boy. He was with her when she found out, and now they were scheming, drunk, and in tears. His attention was drawn away when Arabella started to move.
❝Okay, okay. ❞ she had a look of determination on her face before it melted away with a yawn, ❝Let's go get something to eat Freddie, come on.❞ she reached her hand down for him and he took it, a tingling sensation radiated up his arm making him gasp aloud. His mother had mentioned it when telling the story of her and Arthur. He never believed it, it was something that had coincidentally happened. But here he was undoubtedly in love with Arabella Silvercrest and he would do anything to see her smile, even if it wasn't for him.
