Childhood Chapter 1

Hello, this is the story about me, Lilla Ukai. Ukai may sound familiar, the one and only, Coach Ukai. My grandfather is a pretty big deal in the volleyball community. Now that he has stepped down, my dad is stepping in. Its too bad no one knows I'm related to them. I could be so popular!

Childhood~

I was around 6 years old when I woke up to my mom and dad arguing with each other. I get out of bed and look into their room. I peeked my little face in the door way, watching my mom slip her ring off of her hand and handing it to my dad. My mom walked out and saw me in the doorway. She grabbed my face and squatted down in front of me. "C'mon baby, we are going to grandmas!" she said. I nodded and walked into my room. Why where they arguing? I don't know so I just forget about it. I packed some things to bring to my grandparents to play with. 

When we got to grandma's, momma told me to go play with grandpa. I did just that. We played with my dolls brushing their hair and dressing them in fancy clothes. My grandpa was always like my BFF, besides Bella. Bella has been my childhood bestfriend since I can remember. Next thing you know Bella walks into the kitchen. "Hi Lilla! I brought my dolls too!" Bella exclaimed as I giggled. I looked at my mom and she was crying while Bella's mom, Yamada, Aiko, and grandma were hugging her. Grandpa said, "You girls play dolls, I'll be back shortly." We both nodded and started to play. Grandpa, Grandma, and Ms. Yamada were all comforting her. All I could do was wonder. 

A year later, I was in court sitting next to my grandma and grandpa. I peered over them to see Ms. Yamada also watching. According to the Jury, my father Ukai, wanted full custody over me. My father and mother went back and forth saying why they should have me. I was flustered while they were talking, feeling overwhelmed and scared. "Grandpa, I don't feel good," I told my him. "Okay, lets go to the restroom." he said. We got up and walked out of the court room to the bathroom. "Tell me, what are you feeling Lilla?" he asked, "Tummy ache, fever, throwing up, or maybe a head ache?" "I'm not sure, I just don't feel like myself." He nodded as we reached the restroom. We went back into the court room as they continued to go back and forth. About an hour later, it was declared. Ukai had full custody over me because my mom had a criminal record. I'm not sure what that meant, but my mom was crying and so were my grandparents, and Ms. Yamada. I saw my father with a few tears, I think they were happy. My mom walked up to me and hugged me. "I love you Lilla." she said. Momma walked out of the room, respectfully, and disappeared from existence.

3 years later I started hanging out with Ms. Yamada and Bella a lot. We were both 10 years old and went to the same middle school. They both came over after school one day and we watched a movie. Bella fell asleep and I was close to falling asleep too, when our parents started talking. "He is kicking us out tomorrow." Ms. Yamada said. "Will you guys have a place to stay?" Dad said, "No, I was thinking of reaching out to my parents, or even Chuya," "Don't reach out to her, I don't want her being in any interaction with you or us." my father said. I thought to myself, that's mom's name! I never really thought about momma considering I haven't seen her In 3 years. I still remember her when she took her ring off and handed it to my father, seeing the tears in her eyes were heartbreaking. "You can stay here for the time being, you can sleep in my room and I'll sleep on the couch. Bella can share a room with Lilla too." My father said. I was so happy! Sharing a bedroom with my bestfriend? I couldn't wait.

2 years later they officially moved in with us. I shared a room with Bella and we had bunk beds. My father started sleeping in his room with Ms. Yamada, and told us they were dating. It was fine with me because that meant Bella was my sister, almost. We were still besties though!

Another 2 years later we were 14, and they were getting married! I was happy for them because they were so happy together. Bella and I got to be part of the brides maids, which made me feel special. During their after party we got to dance, eat, and make a lot of memories. When we got home grandpa Ukai walked in behind us. "Aww, does he REALLY have to watch us?" I said. Dad made a face at me. "Teach em volleyball yet?" Grandpa said, "I've showed them, Bella likes playing and Lilla likes watching." my father said. "I know every single position grandpa!" I said. "Impressive! What about you Bella?" he asked. "I think playing volleyball in school would be so fun!" Bella exclaimed. "Maybe you could be on Karasuno's volleyball team in high school Bella!" "I don't know. There might be smelly, sticky, and sweaty kids in there. I will consider it though." He chuckled. About 30 minutes passed as Ms. Yamada and My Dad left for their hOnEYmOoN. Bella and I talked that night while Gramps was asleep. "Lilla, why do you call my mom 'Ms. Yamada' all the time?" Bella asked. "Well why do you call my dad Mr. Ukai all the time?" We stared at each other. "Ill make you a deal," I said," I'll call your mom, Ms. Yamada, mom if you call my dad, dad. Then we could-" "Be more like siblings!" Bella finished my sentence. We smiled and shook on it.
