"Darryl! It's time to wake up!", a familiar voice spoke. Darryl rubbed his left eye.
"You fell asleep studying, now c'mon you need to get up and get ready for school", the voice spoke softly. Darryl looked at the person who was speaking. Darryl thought for a moment, then he remembered he had stayed up until twelve thirty, he started to doze off when he was studying but he tried to fight it to finish his studies for the week. Although fighting to stay awake didn't work out extremely well, Darryl ended up falling asleep on the couch, head leaning on the left armrest.
"Okay, mom", Darryl said softly. Darryl stood up and went upstairs to his bedroom. Five minutes afterwards, he came out dressed in a black hoodie, and black pants with red stripes. Darryl walked down the hallway to the left of his room to the bathroom. Once he reached the bathroom, he went to the sink and grabbed his toothbrush and toothpaste. He squeezed some toothpaste onto his toothbrush, he closed the cap of the toothpaste and put it back. Darryl ran some water over his toothbrush, then began to brush his teeth. After five minutes, he came out of the bathroom and went downstairs to the kitchen.
"Toast or muffins?", his mom asked softly with a smile, staring at Darryl holding up a plate of toast in her right hand, and a small pan of muffins in her left.
"Muffins, please", Darryl said, smiling back at his mom. Darryl's mom placed the plate of toast and pan of muffins onto the counter. She then took out a plate from the cabinets, placing two muffins on the plate. Darryl's mom placed the plate on the table.
"Go ahead and eat, I'll go prepare your supplies for school", Darryl's mom said, sweetly smiling as she left the kitchen and walked into the living room. Darryl sat down at the chair his mom placed the muffins at, and began to eat the muffins. After a few minutes Darryl finished his first muffin and looked at the clock on the wall. Seven Eighteen. Darryl's mom walked back into the room carrying a dark red and black backpack.
"Not to rush you, although the bus will be here soon, so finish your muffin and get going okay", Darryl's mom said sweetly, hugging Darryl before heading upstairs. Darryl grabbed his backpack and put it on, he then grabbed the rest of his second muffin and headed towards the door. Darryl ran outside to see the bus just now turning onto his street. Darryl walked to the sidewalk, trying not to slip on any hidden ice. The bus pulled up to Darryl and the doors opened. Darryl walked down the aisle to the back of the bus where he saw his friend Clay. Darryl sat down next to Clay.
"Want a piece of muffin? I didn't bite off this part", Darryl offered with a sweet smile. Clay smiled.
"Sure", Clay replied. Darryl gave Clay the piece of muffin and watched Clay stuff the piece into his mouth. Darryl smiled. Turning his attention away from his friend for a minute, he realized that there weren't many people on the bus.
"Hey, you okay?", Clay asked with worry in his voice, Darryl turned to him.
"Yeah, I'm just a bit shocked about how there aren't many people on the bus today", Darryl responded, reassuring his friend.
"Oh, well I guess there aren't many people on the bus.", Clay stood up.
"What are you doing! You might get hurt sit back down!", Darryl quietly said. Clay just looked at him with a smile and an eyebrow raised. Clay turned his attention back to the front of the bus.
"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven elementary. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine middle school. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight highschool", Clay mumbled loud enough for Darryl to hear. A kid sitting in the seat ahead of them turned around.
"What are you couting! Be quiet", they said with annoyance. They turned back around.
"Guess someone didn't wake up on tje right side of the bed", Clay said, sitting down. Darryl stared at him as if giving him a look saying 'What did you do?', because the kid sitting in front of them turned around.
"What the heck did you say!", the kid yelled out. Darryl looked at Clay who was turning his head from the window to the kid.
"I don't know who said what, but you should keep the noise down and sit down!", the bus driver said loud enough for everyone to hear. The kid turned around and started to mumble, although Darryl nor Clay could hear what they were saying. They stopped and picked up two elementary kids. After a few minutes they reached the elementary school. All the elementary kids walked down the aisle, Darryl and Clay could see the kid in front raising their hands as if celebrating.
"I'm finally first off the bus!", the kid yelled, Darryl and Clay chuckled a bit happy for the kid. After all the kids got off, a few middle school students and a few highschool students got on the bus. After everyone was seated they left the elementary school. After a few minutes they picked up a highschool student and a middle school student. Darryl looked at Clay who was staring out the window.
"Did you study for the test in Mrs. Smith's class?", Darryl asked quietly. Clay turned around with a bit of shock in his eyes.
"I forgot about the test", he said placing his arms on his thighs, leaning his head onto his hands. Darryl smiled softly and took out a paper.
"We have Mrs. Smith after lunch, you can study during lunch or in some other free time", Darryl said smiling sweetly. Clay looked at him, after a minute a small smile appeared on his face.
"Thank you, Darryl", Clay responded. Clay took the paper and put it into his backpack. After a few minutes theu reached the middle school and the middle school students were let off the bus. A highschool student joined the group of highschool students on the bus. Darryl watched Clay, who was staring out the window. A few minutes passed and the bus was parked outside the highschool. Darryl and Clay were seated near the back so there were only two people behind them. When they got off the bus they walked up the sidewalk towards the school. Clay looked down at Darryl just to see a snowball heading their way. Xlay grabbed Daryl and stepped to the left away from where the snowball would land. Two people ran up to Clay and Darryl a minute after the snowball went passed the two.
"I told you, you would miss", one spoke. Smiling at the other.
"Oh be quiet", the other said. Crossing his arms and turning away.
"You really had to try to hit Darryl, Nick?", Clay said staring at the two.
"No I was going for you, Clay", Nick spoke a smile popping up onto his face.
"I'm confused, Clay? What did George and Nick even do?", Darryl spoke, confusion visible on his face. Clay looked at Darryl with a smile, while Nick and George started laughing. During their laughter, a girl came over with an annoyed expression.
"Who threw that!", she yelled out. George looked over at Nick, who was no longer laughing, but staring at the girl.
"Um, Nick, have anything to say?", Clay asked. The girl stood there and watched as Nick stared at the girl.
"My apologies for ruining your hair", Nick said, looking away from the group.
"Hmph", the girl walked off, leaving the four males there on the sidewalk.
"We should head inside, it's cold out here", Darryl said. The other three nodded and they headed towards the front doors.1318 words
