The chains that held the front gate closed clattered to the ground. Leon clutched the bolt cutters, clearly feeling like a badass. None of us were impressed. Freddie shoved passed him, everyone else following. She pushed open the gate. It let out an eerie screech. We made our way into the asylum silently. Our footsteps across the old tiled floor echoed through the building. I swept my flashlight around, shining it on every wall and corner. Arthur walked around with his flashlight and a little object in his hand.
"Hey, what's that?" Charlotte muttered to him. He smiled proudly.
"It's an EMF sensor," he whispered back. "It measures electronic fields," Charlotte looked at him confused. He sighed. "It's pretty much a ghost detector,"
"Ooohh," Charlotte nodded. "That makes more sense,"
"You're just dumb," I said.
"Hey guys!" Leon stood by a door with a scratched up sign by it. We walked over. I could hardly read it.
"Security?" I asked.
"Sweet!" Arthur cheered. "We can look on them to find some ghosts," he was definitely determined to find paranormal activity.
"Shut up, nerd," Leon said, pulling on the heavy door. It hardly moved at first, but it finally came free and swung open. We walked in and looked around.
"You think there's electricity?" Freddie asked.
"We shoudln't turn on lights unless we really need to," I said. "What if someone sees?" Freddie rolled her eyes.
"Nobody cares about this place," Freddie said. Arthur discovered a control panel on a desk below many screens. They were all dark. Leon pushed passed him and gestured for a light. I shone my flashlight on it. Leon pressed a series of buttons and the screens flickered on.
"Woah, how'd you do that?" I asked, slightly amazed. He shrugged.
"Magic," he said without interest. I looked at the screens, seeing different rooms.
"This is really spooky," Charlotte said, looking at a room with beds all pushed together in an untidy manner. I swore I saw a shadow sweep across the screen.
"Arthur, you should go out there to see if there are any ghosts," Leon teased. Arthur sighed.
"Yeah, stand in front of one of the cameras," I said.
"Okay," Arthur said a little hesitant. He left the room and minutes passed until he appeared on a screen. We all chuckled as he waved his arms and smiled. He suddenly stopped when the buttons on his EMF machine started to glow. I could hear the faint frantic beeping from the machine. Charlotte gasped, pointing out something on the screen. Arthur looked at his machine, fear flashing onto his face. I mashed a button on a microphone on the desk and shouted into it."Arthur! There's somebody with you!"
