I figured he'd agree. Scott had dropped me off at my house and waited in my driveway after school ended. I was nervous at first, but he either didn't realize or didn't care that I was gone for two extra days. When I asked to go hang out with my friends, he just grunted and told me to leave.

"He said yes," I told Scott when I climbed back into his car. He smiled at me and backed out of the driveway.

"Hey, turn on some music, yeah?" Scott requested. I reached over and pushed the radio button.

Used to be a shooting star
When did I become so dark

"I'm the queen of broken hearts," Scott sang loudly. I laughed at his off key screeching before joining.

"Used to be a shooting star! When did I become so dark?" we screamed.

When we arrived at the park, Scott parked and I got out to go look for the twins. Looking around, I spotted them sitting on a park bench laughing at something on Bennett's phone. I nudged Scott and pointed. He smirked at me and I nodded. We crept up behind the twins and yelled in their ears.

"Oh my god! What is wrong with you!" Beckett yelled, punching us in the arm. Bennett just laughed and restrained his brother. Scott was laughing so hard, his face turned all red.

"Carson?"

I turned around, smiling and waving Theo over. He was wearing a grey beanie again. I guess he wasn't going to stop calling me Carson. I didn't really care. She liked nicknames.

"Hey Theo! Wanna join us? We're just hanging around at the park today," I offered. He gave me a confused look and nodded. When I looked back at Bennett, Beckett, and Scott, they were all just staring at us.

"So Christian, you finally got a boyfriend? The popular guy, huh?" Beckett teased.

"No, I just met him yesterday!" I laughed and looked over at Theo, who's cheeks were dusted pink. Everybody knew Theodore was gay. He came out on his first day here.

"Carson, can we talk please? In private?" Theo asked. I smiled and nodded, following him to a tree far enough from my friends that they wouldn't hear us.

"Are you okay?" he asked. I tilted my head to the side. She asked me that all the time.

"Yes, why?"

"Am I going crazy? Did all that never actually happen?" he asked himself more than me. I looked at his shoes.

"No. I'm sure you're not crazy. Whatever happened, I'm sure it happened for a good reason," I assured with a fake smile. He looked me in my eyes. No, no, no. Don't look. Don't look. Too late. Brown stars. I quickly looked away.

"No. It was something that happened about you."

Of course it was. I was there.

"Really? When, yesterday?"

"Not exactly... hey wanna come over after the park?" he asked and I hesitantly agreed with a smile.

"Yeah, sure."

He nodded, seeming relieved and we walked back to the boys who were looking at pictures of fish.

"Aw, look at this one!" Beckett cooed. We turned our heads to see a yellow fish with red stripes and blue spots. Beckett and Bennett had an unhealthy addiction to fish. Bennett made puppy eyes at the fish Beckett found.

"Scott, can you get us this fish? Please?" they begged. Scott looked at me for help, but I just shrugged. It was moments like these that I treasured. Moments where it was easygoing. Moments where we laughed at dumb pictures of fish. Moments where I felt like I would make it. Moments where I felt like it could stay. Moments like the ones spent with her.
