Namjoon was at his first day of work. The restaurant was quite fancy, he was lucky to get the job. He slipped on his work attire, a black button down, black belt and black slacks.
"For your training, you'll shadow Chan then get your own customer once the order is completed." His boss explained.
"Yes sir, nice to meet you Chan." Namjoon shook the waiters hand.
"Nice to meet you too, dont worry about messing up." Chan smiled.
Namjoon thanked him and put on his apron. The work shift soon began, next thing he knew, Namjoon was already taking care of orders on his own.
However, Namjoons clumsiness did not subside when he got the job. He had almost turned over a customer's drink, almost dropped a plate, and nearly tripped another waiter.
When he finally got a break. It was an hour until his first day was over. He checked in with his mom about Harper since his brothers were at school.
"She's great honey, how is work going?"
"I'm exhausted mom, my shift ends after the lunch rush. My break is over, wish me luck. " Namjoon said as he hung up and went back to working.
Meanwhile, Taehyung and Jungkook were gone early. The school had a busted pipe. So everyone was able to leave early.
Harper was asleep on a blanket, thumb loosely in her mouth as a movie played.
"Someone was tired. " mumbled Tae as he set his and Jungkooks backpacks down.
"You wanna go play video games?" Asked Jungkook. Tae nodded and helped his brother up the stairs.
An hour and a half later, Namjoon came home. He laid on the couch as soon as he reached it. His head hurt, and his limbs felt numb. It was only his first day.
He couldnt imagine the days to come, especially at lunch rush.
"Daddy!" Harper ran and jumped onto him. Her smile never failed to make Namjoon smile.
"Hey princess, how was your day?"
The little girl giggled and began to describe her day to him. Throwing in little giggles, Namjoon would laugh as well.
His little girl had such a big imagination. If only her mother was here to see and hear it.
His wife was creative, she could look at anything in a store and tell you what you can make with it.
She often made their Christmas decorations, handmade ornaments, stockings, and the quilt that had pieces of fabric with their pictures printed onto them.
Saying he missed her was an understatement. He absolutely wished she was there to see Harper grow. To give kisses to on a bad day.
When she was pregnant with Harper, she often got more sick than usual. Namjoon would simply hold her close, cuddling her and telling her everything would be okay.
He'd hold her hand, caress her face, his dark eyes bore into hers. Harper was definitely a surprise.
He took care of his wife the whole pregnancy. He'd lay his head on her, talking to the belly bump.
Her bright smile always there. She'd look out the window as she rubbed her bump and told Namjoon all the things she wanted to do. The places she wanted to show the baby.
Namjoon promised her he would. Even on those final week hours of her life. She got to hold Harper and smile up at Namjoon.
When she got weaker and more tired Namjoon kissed her forehead, "you're tired honey, it's time to rest. We'll be okay."
