The next day at work for Namjoon was utter hell. Harper had cried all morning wanting him to stay. It broke his heart so much.
When he arrived at work, he was told theyd be extra busy that day. There was a major hockey tournament to take place, the restaurant was located next to the stadium making it a perfect place to eat before the game.
The traveling teams were going to eat there as well. They had moderate amount of customers when they opened. As time progressed they began to get even more busy.
"Hi, my name is Namjoon I will be your server. How can I help you?" Namjoon said as he got the small notepad out.
The team began yelling different drinks to him, he tried to keep up, once he got all the drinks written down he raced to the back.
While fixing the drinks, Namjoon overheard a few coworkers getting yelled at by the manager.
He quickly got the drinks out and got orders taken.
"Namjoon! Take these to table 3!" One of the chefs yelled. Namjoon quickly did as told. He grabbed all the plates and delivered them.
"Take these to table 5, then come see me." His manager said. Namjoon felt nervous, so he took the plates to the table and found the manager.
"You wanted to see me sir?"
"Namjoon, tell me, what is this?" The manager asked as he held up a tray.
"Its a tray sir."
"Right, now tell me why arent you using these?" The manager asked mockingly.
"I'm not sure sir, I apologize. We are just so busy a-"
"If you know what these are then use them, I dont want excuses!" The manager put the tray down and stormed into the kitchen.
The chefs were yelling for more servers as they filled the order.
Namjoon felt hurt, he was just trying to do his job. He quickly grabbed a tray and began carrying out more orders.
He was working 5 tables at once. It quickly became difficult to keep up.
A nice family had just finished their food. Namjoon took some of the plates back and returned with their check.
"Hey, I know you're tired. You're doing great." Said a kind lady, assuming she was the mother of the young child with her.
"Thank you ma'am, I have a little one of my own." Namjoon smiled as he worked the machine.
"Oh, but I'm sure your wife feels very lucky to have a hardworking husband. "
"Thank you once again ma'am, unfortunately, my wife passed away." Namjoon had a small conversation with her until they left.
"Namjoon back to work! We have orders to fill now!" His manager yelled.
Namjoon bowed and raced around the restaurant. He felt so tired.
When they finally slowed down, Namjoon was sent to clean the tables he served. There was a big tip on the table. He looked for the people who sat there, they had already left.
He smiled and placed the money with the rest of the tips. Once he was granted to leave, Namjoon called his father.
"Hey Joon! How was work?"
"Super busy, my manager yelled at me all day." Namjoon complained as he started the car.
"Well, some days will be hell son. Your daughter has missed you all day." His father replied.
