As they headed back to the Hufflepuff common room, Mae sensed something was off in her body and her head started to be strangely heavy. Cedric was extremely worried, he hated when Mae was not fine, he was holding her as close as he could because he did not want her to feel alone in any way. But Mae didn't seem to care and wanted to walk by herself.« - Mae please hold on tight to me you're going to fall.
- I'm fine, I just need some air, I need to feel the air.
- You'll feel the air on the bed love, now is not the time, please just hold on to me for now. He begged. »
As they arrived in front of the door a big thunderstorm rose from nowhere, and the rain began to pour down heavily. It was one of that strange night, where everything seemed to stop for a moment, and everything would be silent and almost dead. The only things you could hear were the rain and the crackling fire. Cedric decided to carry Mae to the couch. He brought her a glass of fresh water and she drank it straight away.
« - I guess I was just thirsty, she laughed.
- No there's something else, what happened down there Mae?
- I don't know, I first heard something and you didn't hear it so I thought it was in my head, but then the noise came back closer and I heard someone or something speak.
- What did it say? Did you understand?
- No I didn't understand it was an odd language but it felt so familiar at the same time, I'm sure I've heard it before. And for a moment I wasn't myself I was trying so hard to understand that I felt like going somewhere.
- Where? Going where? Cedric pumped.
- I don't know Cedric, I don't know. But don't worry I am not going anywhere anytime soon!
- You are better not! He claimed, or I'll go with you! »
They both chuckled.
« - You, you need to rest Mae, I'll carry you to bed, he kindly said.
- No, thank you, I'm still able to walk by myself, and I don't want you to break your back carrying me. She laughed. »
They both walked toward the Prefect's Bedroom. Once all tucked up in the bed Cedric couldn't help but holding Mae, which was not comfortable at all.
« - You know I'm not going to disappear; you can let go Ced. She giggled.
- Yeah, sorry, I just was, am, a bit nervous about what happened.
- Don't worry we'll figure things out. You have a quidditch practice tomorrow, you too have to sleep.
- You're right. Goodnight Mae, he smiled before kissing her on the forehead.
- Goodnight Cedric, she lovingly answered. »
Cedric woke up alone the next morning, no sign of Mae anywhere near the bed. He jumped out of bed, put on his robe, and went into the common room, no sign of the girl. But his friend stopped him on his way back to his bedroom.
« - Hey mate, what's up?
- Hi Thomas, I'm just looking for...
- Mae? Thomas commented.
- How? How do you...
- I saw her.
- You saw her? Where is she now?
