The Big Tree

"- You think one day they will actually tell one another how they feel, asked Fred.

- Yeah sure, we just have to push them a little that's all, Mae answered.

- Yes you're right just a nice push and they're gonna fall in each other's arms, just like you and Cedric last year.

- Yes, she chuckled, I guess I never really thanked you for that. But I really appreciated what you did Fred, and now I couldn't be happier, I have you, Rosie, George, and Cedric, and I'm just so glad.

- No need to thank me Luv, said Fred, I could see right through his face he clearly was obsessed with you. In fact, once it was clear he couldn't stop talking about you were always on his mind, he was constantly asking about you, where you were, how you were feeling, and then I gave him a little push, and just like this, it was just meant to be. And I finally saved myself from his daily praises to you, Fred laughed.

- Hey, you adore me stop! I'm sure you were making so much fun of him ! she said as she punched his arm.

- Yes okay, you're right, he said, but I really want to see George and Rosie together though, they're both innocent in a way and it beautiful to watch them.

- Aww, sweet Fred his back I see, Mae said, you're right they are just the perfect match.

- Just like you and me, giggled Fred, You're my other half, I do hope you know that. You always seem to bring the best in me, and I'm so glad to call you family.

- Me too Fred, I am very glad, thank you for being there for me and helping me through everything, thank you for helping Rosie, and thanks again for Cedric. She said as she hugged him.

- No problem little one, he said."

They both took a glance at George and Rosie being in their own little world.

"- I have an idea, suddenly whispered Fred.

- Do tell, quickly answered Mae, smiling.

- What if, George and Rosie found themselves alone, just the two of them, I mean it could happen, life's full of surprises, smirked Fred.

- Oh yes, I see a sort of last-minute accident, yes.

- I mean Angelina is going to Hogsmade this afternoon.

- Is she now? She smirked.

- Oh yes, and I thought, as the incredible gentleman I am, he said with a Posh accent. I could say hi and maybe buy her a drink.

- What an excellent idea! She answered the same he talked.

- What about you and Perfect Diggory?

- Oh well I remembered he told me about the very beautiful café he wanted to bring me.

- Oh a café? How very French. Fred laughed.

- Very French indeed "Mon Cher", we'll go to this café and buy some French croissants to enjoy.

- It's all settled then.

- Yes sir !"

They both laughed with a lot of complicity and a silly look in their eyes. George looked at them and knew something was going on.

"- What are you two planning eh? He asked.

- Oh nothing, said Mae with an innocent look on her face.

- Fred?

- Well you see Miss Diggory here owe me and we were planning on getting my pen back, you know the one Snape took from me when we ruined his desk in Potions two weeks ago.

- Oh yes that was the best thing ever! George claimed. What are you going to do then?

- We're going to make him madder, said Mae.

- Are we? Said Fred, Course we are! The madness needs more madness to work!

- Yes that's my mate right there! Don't get yourself in too much trouble though.

- Us !? Shouted Fred.

- Never! Mae and George shouted."

As the four of them laughed, and Rosie couldn't stop watching George's perfect smile and incredibly sweet laugh. As all of them sighed Mae sensed a warm embrace coming from her back and heard :

"- Hello again Miss Peringson.

- Cedric !"

She turned around before giving Cedric a big warm hug, he lifted her off the bench and sat putting her on his lap like a baby, grabbing her and giving her a smooch on the nose.

"- Well the two of you are the pair, laughed Rosie.

- They're surely are, said George.

- Don't get too comfy there, we have to go to Hogsmade looking for our costumes!

- Hogsmade? Said Cedric.

- Yes I thought it could be a good idea, we haven't done something in a while and the Halloween party is coming soon, I just thought we could go and get our costumes altogether. But if you're too tired I can go with you another time, I would totally understand. Mae lovingly smiled.

- No we are all going and it's gonna be fun, he said cheerfully, and maybe you and I could go to that café I talked to you about? He almost murmured.

- It would be my pleasure to be your date then, Mae answered looking into Cedric's eyes.

- Okay let's go then, shouted Fred, go on, change up, meet you all in ten minutes in the gardens next to the big tree."

Everyone stood up and started running to their common room but Cedric stopped Mae and pulled her back in.

"- Cedric we have to change what are you doing ? she laughed.

- I don't recall saying you a proper hello today. he smirked.

- You literally hugged me this morning Ced, she laughed.

- I know but, it was because I was scared.

- I told you I am not going anywhere, don't worry! She put her tiny hand on his face.

- I'll always worry about you, he replied as he stood up. Please may I? He asked as showing her his hand.

- I'd be delighted young man, she chuckled"

They loved to dance and sing together it was like time would stop and everyone would just disappear for a moment. Cedric looked into Mae's deep blue eyes, and put his hand through her long brown golden wavy hair, before twirling her around in the great hall and pushing her back on the bench before running  and shouting:

"- The first to make it to the big tree!

- Bet! She shouted back as she ran"
