---Sam's POV---

Los Angles, California. The City of Angels. A completely different change of scene from San Antonio, Texas. But I was ready to come back after the whole ordeal with Cara. She and I weren't always arguing when we were together. I fell for her when we were talking on an online chatroom while we were playing Warcraft. It's rare to find something special with a girl when she plays video games just as well as I do. And she was a damn good video gamer, but when it came to our relationship? Yeah, it was like all of a sudden we were oil and water. The spark just wasn't there anymore, and we got into it right after I closed the door between us for good and just left to go back to the one place I never thought I'd see again. It was inevitable because I knew exactly who was there and who I had to leave behind after that one night that changed my life with her. Raven Blake. She was just as gorgeous as her name was. She was adorably short, had beautiful mid-length black hair, and those stormy bluish-grey eyes. Those eyes could cause a freaking hurricane if one were ever to anger her. I could never tell her how I feel about her because of one huge reason: my sister, Mikayla. I can hardly keep secrets from her, and I hated it. She's too smart for her own good, and she would figure something is going on if I had stayed. But I'm willing to risk it and come back to the one place that I know where she is. Raven and I just seemly clicked that day; we just talked while Mikayla was out with her cheerleading friends. She has amazing taste in music, and she also plays certain video games, and has good taste in movies and TV shows. She got me hooked on Supernatural and Lucifer, but I'll never tell that to her face. She's an amazing girl, but how could I ever be with her when Mikayla would never approve of us? I shook my head as I continued to drive to the house I shared with Mikayla. Our parents were hardly ever home because they were pilots and traveled a lot. Not that Mikayla or I minded that much. We took care of ourselves, and they always came home for the holidays, so it wasn't all that bad.

I pulled up into the driveway, and I just couldn't help myself and look over to Raven's house. Amazing how the one girl I could ever want was living right next door to me. She never seemed to like me how I liked her until that fateful night that changed everything between us. No, Sam, don't go there right now, I reprimanded myself. That was all in the past; what matters the most is the here and now.

I got out of my 2017 red Mustang, looked over there one last time, and realized Raven's car was gone. She and Mikayla must've gone shopping or something. I know I got here a day early, but I wanted to come back here after being away for so long, and now I'm back for good this time.

--2 hours later--

I've been playing Uncharted 4 for a good solid 2 hours until I hear a familiar car door slam and two voices talking pretty loudly. Mikayla and Raven were back. Well, here goes nothing. I hear Mikayla call out my name, and I shout, "Coming!" as I go down the stairs, and then I'm there standing in the doorway where Mikayla and Raven are. Oh wow...Raven. She was just as beautiful as I remember. Black hair falling onto her shoulders, those stormy eyes that I've gotten lost into many times, and those heart-shaped, kissable lips of hers. Yeah, this is going to be an interesting summer, alright. And all I can say when looking over to Raven is "Raven?" Wow, way to start a conversation, Sam. The fact that she hasn't started running for the hills already is shocking.

---Raven's POV---

"Sam?" is all I can muster up the courage to say back while Mikayla just rushes to Sam and tackles him like a linebacker with one of her famous hugs. "Sam! I missed you so much! Why didn't you call me that you were coming back today? How was Texas? Was it hot? Was it fun? Did you try their famous BBQ foods? H-" "Woah, one question at a time, Kayla! I missed you too; it was supposed to be a surprise, it was both hot and fun, and yes, their BBQ was just as good as I thought it would be." Sam says as he lets go of Mikayla from her hug, and then he looks over to me and smirks that sexy smirk of his. Damn him and his handsome face. "Hey, Raven. Long time no see, huh?" He asks while chuckling. Even his laugh is cute. Ahh, what am I saying?! I shouldn't be thinking about him like that. Not when Mikayla's literally in the same room as us. If she knew what happened between us that night, she'd never forgive me, and we'll never be best friends anymore. I have to be nice but cautious about this. "Haha..yeah, totally. It's good to see you again, Sam." I smile at him in the friendliest way possible without giving myself away to Mikayla, who's actually just tapping away on her phone. Typical since she's one of the most popular girls at school, but not the cliche mean ones you've heard of before in many books and movies to this day. She's nice to everyone even if they don't deserve her kindness. Plus, she's involved in many school activities such as theatre, yearbook, and cheerleading. Yeah, she's a busy bee, alright. But in her defense, she just wants her college applications to look good, and she wants to go somewhere out of state in Texas. She hopes to get into her number one choice school at the University of Texas in Austin, but her dream school is NYU so that she can pursue acting and become an actress one day. She's definitely talented enough for it, that's for sure.

Sam looks at me and smiles that famous smile at me and has this glint in his eye, but it's gone before I can look too deep into it. "It's good to see you too, Raven. You sure haven't changed a bit. How are your parents doing?" What does he mean I haven't changed a bit? Was it a compliment? Why am I overthinking about it anyway? I internally shake my head at my questions to myself and say to him, "They're doing pretty good, actually. Always working at the office, but it's okay. They still get home late and make time to see me before they go to bed and go back to work early in the morning." I say sheepishly. Yes, most kids my age have parents that live with them all of the time until they move out. Mine though? I'm lucky enough to see them every night when they come home from a long day at the office together. My mom is a graphic designer while my dad is an architect. They make a good amount of money, and I'll always be grateful for them and that I'm fortunate enough to have food and a roof over my head. I have it easy, sure, but I just wish that they could stay home more often when I was born. Even when I've had my share of tantrums and being a typical angsty teen, we always got along; they still put up with me, despite my moodiness. I'm proud to call them my family.

"Well, that's good to hear. I'm glad you still get to see your parents. I wish ours would be here more, but it's okay; they're both pilots and travel a lot. Mikayla and I are glad we get to see them during the holidays so, it could be worse. I'm just glad I'm back and can see y'all again." He smiles at the both of us, and I swear it seems like he looks at me a bit longer than necessary, but before I could dwell on it for much longer, Mikayla says, "Hey, so Jessica from the cheerleading team is throwing a party at her house tomorrow night, if you guys want to go, you can. I'm sure you'd like to go, Sam. You could think of it as your homecoming party." Sam laughs, and it takes everything in me to push the butterflies away from my belly that occurred thanks to his laugh. "Yeah, that's one way to look at it. Tell her I'd love to go. I'm just gonna go get a head start on unpacking everything. Make yourself at home, Raven." He subtly winks at me and goes back upstairs to unpack while I'm trying not to have a mini heart attack right on the floor when he winked at me. God, why did he have to come back today? And why did he have to go and be so cute when he winked at me? I sure hope Mikayla didn't see it. I look over to be sure, and of course, she's texting Jessica that we'll all be at the party tomorrow night. Oh great. What am I going to wear? Casual? Hot? Formal? Ahh, there I go overthinking again.

I say to Mikayla, "Hey, why don't we just have a girl's night in tonight? Just like old times. We can have a sleepover and watch movies and stuff like that." Mikayla grins and says, "I'll go make the popcorn and pick out a movie for us to watch! Hurry and go get some of your stuff!" She says and then runs off to make popcorn for our night in together. I shake my head and internally laugh at her silliness, but that's one of the reasons why she's my best friend. I run out of their house and go back into mine and pack everything I need, and I'm back in less than 20 minutes and walk into Mikayla's room. I forgot how girly her room was, but this is Mikayla we're talking about. A Hufflepuff. Her room is painted a nice pink shade, but not a hot pink or bubblegum kind of pink that looks like Pepto Bismol. Her bed is littered with stuffed animals, but that's a given, considering her personality. She has a nice 48' screen TV on top of her white dresser across from her bed, and a PS4 hooked up to it, along with many books and video games inside of her bookshelf. This girl is really something else.

She looks over and smiles at me and says, "Hey, come on! I just put the movie in! You like Space Jam, right?" I grin and say, "You bet I do. Scooch on over." As we got comfortable in our respective PJs and watched the movie together, I couldn't help but think of the party tomorrow night. What's going to happen when I know for a fact that Sam will be going with us? Will he greet his friends and leave me all alone by myself at a party? I shake my head because I know he wouldn't do that because that's not how Sam is. I would know since that night we had was special, and yet I can't seem to dwell on it for right now because the past is too much for me right now. All I can think about right now is, nothing could go wrong at a party full of teenagers.

Right?
