"What were you thinking?" Clarisse asked, as she cradled Silena's head in her lap. Tears welled in my eyes as I watched Silena's life slowly fade from her.
"Wouldn't listen...cabin only...follow you." she choked out, her lips were pale and cracked.
"So you stole my armor?" Clarisse had started to cry, "you waited until Chris and I were on patrol?" she turned to her siblings, "and NONE of you noticed?"
"Don't blame them...they wanted to believe I was you."
"You stupid Aphrodite girl," Clarisse sobbed, "you charged a drakon why?"
"All my fault," Silena said a single tear streaking down her face, "the drakon, Charlie's death...camp endangered-"
"Stop it!" Clarisse ordered, "that's not true."
Silena opened her hand and a bracelet with scythe charm lay in her hand. My heart stopped, my whole body felt cold.
"You were the spy." I whispered in disbelief.
"Before...before I liked Charlie. I met Luke, he was so charming...handsome. Later I wanted to leave...he threatened me. He said he would tell. He promised me..that I was saving lives. He said Charlie...wouldn't get hurt. He lied to me." I felt as if the rug was yanked out from under me.
Behind us the battle raged on, "Go protect the doors. GO!" Clarisse ordered her cabinmates.
Silena took a heavy, painful breath. "Forgive me."
"You're not dying." Clarisse said.
"Charlie..." her eyes a million miles away, "see Charlie."
Silena didn't speak again. Clarise held her and wept. Chris put a hand on her shoulder. I closed Silena's eyes, Annabeth stayed on the ground, her eyes streaming tears for our fallen friend.
"We have to fight, Silena gave up her life for us. We have to honor her." I said getting up.
Clarisse wiped her nose, "She was a hero understand. A hero."
I nodded and so did Percy, "her name will be remembered for years. Silena Beauregard saved us all." Percy said.
"C'mon Clarisse." I said.
She picked up a sword from a fallen camper, "Kronos is going to pay."
Clarrise drove her chariot crushing everything in her path. She slashed monster after monster. While we all stood back and watched in awe. She drove the monsters back to 35th street. She grappled the drakon's carcass with a grappling hook and dragged it along. I saw that she was literally glowing. A fire red aura was flickering around her.
"The blessing of Ares," Thalia said, "I've never seen it in person."
For a little while Clarisse was as invincible as Percy, arrows launched at her but nothing hit her.
"I AM CLARISSE DRAKON-SLAYER! I WILL DESTROY YOU ALL!" she bellowed in rage, "Where is Kronos? Is he a coward?"
"Clarisse!" I yelled, "Fall back!"
She didn't listen, "Where is the Titan lord! Bring it on!" she yelled.
The monsters fell back behind a snake lady shield and she circled around Fifth avenue with a drakon carcass behind her. We used this time to tend to our wounded, we brought them inside the lobby. The monsters had fallen back but Clarisse still rode up and down the street with her trophy. She was demanding Kronos meet her in battle.
"I'll watch her," Chris said, "She'll tire eventually. I'll make sure she comes inside."
"Thanks for coming." Percy said.
