Okie, so this is set after the war, maybe a couple days after. I know at this point Ender is a one man show but let pretend like he hasn't cut himself from at least you. Alrighty, lets get started.

"Ender, wake up," I say quietly trying to wake Ender up while not getting caught. "Andrew Wiggin please wake up," I say attempting to come across as demanding but I end up sounding like I am begging.  I had come into Enders room to look at his images of the Foremics.  We had made it a project to study the alien species as we and some of our colleagues had destroyed. The obliteration of the buggers didn't seem to effect anyone the way it had effected Ender and me but we knew we had taken everything from them and we were both beyond guilty.

So that was how I ended up here, in Ender Wiggin's room at 3:00am trying to wake him up from the nightmare he was clearly having.  "Ender, Ender," I whisper shaking him just slightly, but the boy wouldn't budge from his nightmare state. His face was scrunched up and he was clawing at his throat as if he was trying to remove something from it. He had curled onto his side and had been calling for help and making noises of distress for about 5 minutes. "Ender!"

I didn't know what to do. Even if he did wake up, what would I say. I had always been an awkward person(lets just say the amount of book smarts my brain carried left no room for understanding how to be friends)  but I was usually functional around Ender.  We spent a lot of time together through our childhoods(if you would even call it that) and we had really gotten to know each other studying the Foremics but this situation? That all flashes through my brain in a millisecond and in that fraction of time I noice Andrew Wiggin had woken up to me sitting on the side of his bed. I feel the blood rush to my face.

"Y/n? What are you doing doing here," Ender says curiously but I can see he is also very confused. His voice is still slightly raspy from sleep.

"S..sorry, Ender. I couldn't sleep and decided to come look over th..the pictures of the Foremics ," I say. I made it through the sentence pretty well, not to many stumbles.

"Oh, okay." I nod and then decide to risk it.

"Ender,"I say slowly trying not to stutter "you were having a nightmare. Are you okay?" Ender looks at me wide eyed for a just a second and then his neutral face returns.

  "Oh yah, I'm fine."

  "Ender?"

   "Yes?"

"When you say "I'm fine" I'm not exactly convinced. So once again, are you okay?"Ender looks down. I can tell he is trying to come up with a good answer. In the mean time I look back on our conversation, so far I was doing pretty well. No petrifying nervousness.

"It was about my brother," Ender says. He rotates himself to lean against the wall and pushes his covers off.

"Why? Aren't brothers supposed to be, well, more or less nice."

"Y/n, if you want me to explain you can't ask a question every 2 seconds," Ender snaps. I am taken aback. "Sorry," he says, realizing what he said.

   "It's fine." Ender smiles.

"When you say "It's fine" I'm not exactly convinced," he mimics my tone from earlier " So once again, sorry." I give a small laugh. "Anyway, it was about my brother Peter.  He would threaten to kill me and my sister Valentine when we were younger and sometimes when we would lay buggers and astronauts he would get physically aggressive. They day I was taken to battle school I had just got my monitor taken out and Peter wanted to play buggers and astronauts because now I didn't have an advantage with my monitor taken out and all.  I agreed to play and then he locked Val out of the room and started chocking me out. That was our last real exchange. Every once and a while it will conveniently replay in my dreams," Ender pauses for a moment. "And honestly that is one of the better dreams I have." I look at Ender who was looking straight at the wall of his quarters. I don't even know what to say, I had no idea this was happening to Ender. Guilt washes through me.

"Ender, that's terrible. Why didn't you tell me?" Ender looks at me as if to say "Really"

"Y/n, how would I have slipped that into a conversation. "Oh I think the buggers have 2 hearts and by the way my brother Peter used to abuse me and my sister.""

"Fair enough. But if you need to talk to me about something, Ender, please do."

     "I will now."

"Good." There is silence for a moment. "Y/n?"

      "Hm?"

"Thank you for this, really." I smile.

      "Anytime Ender, anytime."
