"I can't wait to start writing this."
"Well, then get started," Claire stated.
"I would if we had a study hall today but instead we have to do the day of service."
"Fine then, well start tomorrow at recess," Claire concluded.
Recess was out. Today we just gotta go inside instead of having to wait in line and go in by homeroom. So my friends and I like we always do, raced to the table. It originally started unfairly. Mason and Taylor were closer to the door when we yelled,
"RACE TO THE TABLE!!!!" But Claire and I somewhat caught up with them within the time it took them to maneuver the crowd that was heading towards the door. When we passed through the doors I did a grab and run to retrieve my lunchbox.
I did almost beat Mason but, because of the fact, that we have always sat in the same spot at the same table for as long as I can even remember. So, it has now become our seating arrangement, which means that his seat is closer than mine and Claire's. So, he won, but only by two seconds and no more.
After we all sat down we talked and had our normal disputes of the day about random things. Dang, I have weird friends. Then again I am no better. This went on for a few minutes, and when the line got shorter Claire, Mason, Taylor, Josh, Brandon, and Brycen went to go get their lunch. I had brought my lunch as normal. Mason and Claire ran as if there would be no food if they didn't. The rest kind of walked kind of speed-walked to get their food.
Now most of us do get along, but there is always at least one person if not more that we do not get along with at the table.
Now I love applesauce. My mother calls me the queen of applesauce, and there was applesauce with lunch today. So, when all of my friends got back they all threw their applesauce at me.
"I dare you to eat all of those as fast as you can," Mason challenged.
"Is that a challenge?" I asked.
"Why, yes it is," he replied.
At the time I only had 6 but Holly had walked by and overheard us. So, she had grabbed three more from her friends and gave them to me.
So, in the end, I wound up having nine applesauce cups that I had to eat by the end of lunch.
"I do not think that is a good idea," Claire commented.
"What is the worst thing that could happen?"
"Let's see, you could eat so much that you throw up, we also have to do the day of service project after this, and I am not going to listen to you complain that you feel sick the whole time," she said counting on her fingers.
"But I want to see how fast she can eat them," Brycen added.
"Fine, but don't say I didn't warn you," Claire mumbled.
Then they challenged me to eat them all as fast as I could. Before we started Mrs. Wondercheck walked by. Now we are always the loudest and craziest table at lunch no matter what day it is. So the teachers in the lunchroom have just learned not to say anything when we laugh so hard that we fall off the chairs and land on the ground and still keep laughing (which happens a lot). But anyway, I gave Claire my pocket watch so she could time me.
All the containers were already open and ready for me to eat, so all I had to do is move the straws from cup to cup when I was done with each specific cup which Claire also did for me.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I was off. I was doing pretty good. I was eating them fast like you would think I haven't eaten applesauce in forever. That was until about halfway through when I started to gag. Now you may think that a normal person would stop doing what I was doing after that considering what could have happened but, as all of my friends say, we have no reason to believe that I am even human. So, I just kept on going like nothing happened. Granted I was starting to get a little slower than I started, but I was also getting kind of somewhat full. Why did I do this? I thought to myself. So, this lasted for around 5 minutes. I had finally finished and I slammed the last cup on the table.
"5 minutes and 18 seconds, 318 seconds," Claire said shocked. WOW. Best lunch ever.
After that, we all got loud. Then I thought Oh Great I have to do the day of service thing after this which requires working, and ride a bus after this. This is not going to end well. I thought to myself. But we all seemed to not care about that at the moment. We were all too busy laughing and talking for the rest of the lunch to worry. Even though we all knew what was coming next. And also Claire was right. I am going to regret doing this later.
I don't know when I wrote this but here it is. Sorry, I haven't been on in a while but between school, work, and COVID I've had a lot going on. I hope to have new chapters up soon, but I can't promise anything. I have been working on a new story but I want to write a few chapters first before I publish anything.
Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving in the US and a great week everywhere!!!!
