Henry Carter trudged in with a scowl on his face. He had brown, almost dusty looking hair that was sticking out everywhere. He wore a surprisingly nice looking suit, but it was wrinkled in the front because he was hunching over.
"Hello sir, please have a seat," the detective said. Henry sat on the chair, grumbling about something.
"Now, sir, what is your relationship-"
"I didn't kill no one!" Henry said, jumping from his seat.
June folded her hands in front of her. "Sir, I need to investigate everyone. Now, what is your relationship with Lady Scotting?"
"Why do you need to know?" Henry asked, still standing. "Are you going to throw me in jail? Accuse me of murder because I look like this?"
"Mr. Carter, I don't put people in prison unjustly. Please, answer the question."
"Alright," Henry said, sitting down. "I was the gardener. She invited me to attend because she loved what I did."
"Thank you. What were you doing from nine to ten pm tonight?""I talked to that woman. Sumaya? That was it. I talked to her for half an hour, then I went to the garden. I wanted to check on the new petunias."
"Mhm," the detective said. Sumaya said he was going to the bathroom. "And do you know what this is?"
She brought out the box from her pockets and showed them to Henry. He took a look at it, then shook his head. "I've never seen that before. Wait, I might've seen someone where that, but I can't remember who."
"Alright. Did you see anything suspicious tonight?"
"Yes I did actually. But how will that help you?" Henry questioned.
"Sir, please just tell me what you saw."
"Fine, fine. I saw two men climb into Lady Scottings room. I tried to run and tell her daughter, but I tripped on a vine and hit my knee. By the time I got to her, it was too late."
"Thank you. This must be very hard for you.""Well," Henry said, his annoyed mask falling. "I did work for her for thirty years. It was quite a shock."
"I'm sure. You may leave now."
"What if I don't want to leave?" Henry said, rising. "What if I want to stay?"A butler passed by the study door, then took Henry's arm and started to escort him out. Henry still yelled at June, questioning everything.
He's mad. It must be the shock. Or that's just how he always is. Anyways, it's time for the last suspect.
