Chapter 6Lexi checked herself out in front of the full-length mirror, she turned to the right and then to the left, then ran her palm over her ass. Now that she was satisfied with her lower half she stepped closer to the mirror to touch up her makeup. She did a final spin in the mirror then sprayed a few hints of her favourite perfume into the air and stepped into the mist. When she was finished she checked her phone to see if Cadence was there, "be there in five minutes," she read, "Ok see you soon." She texted back.
"Fuck shit," she said nervously, "this is going to be such a shit show." At that moment in time, she heard a soft knock on the door. She checked herself once more, then skipped to the door. When she opened the door for Cadence, she got a whiff of the cologne she was wearing, and it instantly took her into a trance, the smell had hints of cinnamon and another spice that was hard to identify, but dam did It smelt good.
"That smell, god that fucking smell," Lexi thought to herself as she smiled at Cadence. Cadence returned a shy smile then made her way to the living room to rest her bags down. But as she turned around to tell her Hi, she was greeted instead by a scowling Lexi.
"You good?" Cadence questioned. Lexi didn't say anything instead she balled up her fists and placed them on her hips. Cadence made a face then covered her mouth as she felt the bubbles of laughter waiting to erupt.
Cadence burst out laughing "Girl you look like Wonder woman with your hands on your hips like that." She was laughing so hard that a couple of loose tears streamed from her eyes, "So are you going to capture me?" She said as she inched closer to Lexi. Their eyes connected as Cadence stepped closer, but just as fast she had to back away because the intensity of the moment was way too much. Lexi stared at Cadence's back as she turned away, a thought came to her and at that moment she decided not to mention the kiss. She knew her best friend very well and she could see that Cadence was not in the mood to have a discussion like that and quite Franky she wasn't either, all she wanted to do was chill and have her best friend back.
Lexi walked into the kitchen "So I got us some Chinese food, I know that's your favourite." she said pulling out two plates from the cupboard then ruffled open the paper bags and pulled out a couple of containers. Moments later she had food piled on both plates for both of them. When she entered the living room she met Cadence sitting at the table with a knife and fork in either hand.
Lexi laughed "what do I look like to you?" She said while handing the plate to Cadence.
Cadence made a face "Wifey." She whispered as she set the plate down.
"Come again?" Lexi said while sitting down, she dragged the plate towards her and then picked up a forkful of veggies, "I didn't hear what you said."
Cadence stuffed food in her mouth so that it'd be harder for Lexi to hear "Oh, I said knife, this is an impressive nice." she as she slurped the noodles.
Lexi made a face then rolled her eyes "oh never mind, I am way too hungry for this."
"Mmmm, this is delicious," Cadence said wanting to change the topic because what she said was clearly inappropriate and she didn't know how to even explain why she said that. She knew from the moment she said 'wife' that she was in trouble.
Lexi waved her hands in front of Cadence "Hello, is anyone there?" At that moment Cadence snapped out of it, she was so busy having an internal dialogue with herself that she didn't hear anything Lexi said.
Cadence smiled at Lexi "I'm sorry about that, you know sometimes I don't say what's on my mind."
Lexi chuckled "It's okay, I had a feeling it was that." She was accustomed to Cadence's moments of silence and it didn't bother. In fact, she learned how to deal with it, unlike other people who got frustrated with her unique communication style. "So how have you been? She said as she stuffed a forkful of noodles into her mouth, "I miss you."
