⋆ prologue ⋆ telling him ⋆

Betty checked herself out in the mirror in the corner of Veronica's room. Archie and Jughead had been out all day having a little 'bromance' as always while Veronica and Betty were out shopping and hanging out together.

"Do you think he's going to freak?" Betty asked, worried. Betty was 2 months pregnant with Jughead's baby and had just found out a couple days ago, without him knowing. "Totally, but in a good way. You guys are having a baby. What's more shocking than that?" Veronica exclaimed.

"Him leaving me and wanting nothing to do with both me and this baby." Betty frowned, pulling down her shirt.

"B, when I tell you that he isn't going to leave you, I'm telling the truth. Jughead loves you too much to ever put you and himself through that." Veronica explained.

"I guess you're right, it's just that.. what if he thinks it's too early and doesn't want a baby right now?" Betty wiped tears that would soon start falling down her emerald green eyes.

"If he does, I'm kicking his ass. But it'll never come to that because he won't leave you." Veronica said, calming her best friend down.

Betty knew she'd have to tell him sooner or later knowing that she'd start showing any minute now.

And she had the perfect way to tell him.

Betty and Jughead entered their apartment and got ready for bed after the long fun day they had with their best friends.

"How was your day today Jug?" Betty asked, quickly slipping on one of his 'S' t-shirts. "Uh, nothing really. We just went to Pops, went to the White Wrym and went to the arcade. What about you?"

"Same, nothing much. We just went shopping and did other girl things that i'd probably bore you of." Betty chuckled. Jughead climbed into bed pulling her closer into his arms. "You never bore me out Betts. Tell me about your day."

"Well, I actually have something for you." Betty said pulling away from his embrace. "Oh yeah? And what is that?" Jughead teased. "Close your eyes." Betty demanded, Jughead doing exactly what she said.

Betty ran out the bed and went into one of the bags that she had recently just bought. She finally the found the surprise. A small onesie with words scattered 'can't wait to meet my daddy and mommy in october.' neatly on it.

She quickly skipped back to bed and placed the shirt in his hands. "Okay, open." Betty said, biting her lip. Jughead opened his eyes and looked down. He lifted it up and read the words and his eyes immediately widen.

"Wait- are you? You're pregnant?" Jughead asked in surprise. Betty nodded, tears filling her eyes once again. Jughead pulled her into a hug. "I don't know what to say, I mean we're having a baby."

Betty chuckled at his response. "Yeah, we are." She pulled away from his hug. "I honestly thought you'd leave me once I told you." Betty admitted. "What? I would never leave you Betty. I love you too much to ever leave you. Why did you think that?" Jughead asked, narrowing his eyes but keeping a small smile.

"I don't know, I just thought that you'd leave me because it's too early to have one or because you didn't want any kids at all." Betty explained. Jughead shook his head. "Never. I'm going to be here for you every step of the way, nothing is ever going to keep me apart from both you and my kid."

Usually, when you find out great news, it's a happy ever after story for the couple. In the case, it wasn't so great. Jughead had just jinxed himself thinking that nothing would come between him and Betty and their baby.

When their bell rang and knocked a few times, Jughead gave Betty a strange look. "You expecting anyone?" Jughead asked. "No.." Betty said, licking her lips and looking at the bedroom door.

It knocked again and Jughead got up grabbing his pocket knife along with him. "Stay here, Betty. Get ready to call my dad if anything happens." Jughead warned Betty. Betty grabbed her phone and got ready to call Fp.

Jughead headed downstairs slowly and eventually reached the door, "Who is it?" Jughead shouted out the door. No response. He turned on the porch light and opened the door slowly.

Nothing was there.

Jughead looked around and then down and saw a note. He picked it up slowly looking around him once again. He slowly opened the note.

'I'm back, and watching closely. Watch your back Jones.'
- P.P

"Jug, if everything okay?" Betty whispered from upstairs. Jughead stuffed the note into his pocket and walked back inside, locking everything downstairs. "Yeah, uh yeah everything's alright. Why don't we go to bed alright?" Jughead suggested, Betty nodded.

Jughead spent the night not resting his eyes one bit, and keeping a good eye on Betty.

Right when they find something great, something decides to waltz its way back and ruin everything, Jughead thought.

Eventually, morning approached and he knew the exact two people he needed to talk to, Archie and the Serpents.
