Chapter 1 - Purple in Electrical

Beeping lowly, the small PDF in her gloved hand blinked with the list of tasks for today. The blinking lights all showed up in one room, possibly the darkest and starriest place in the whole ship. A place that most of the crew considered bad luck. The Electrical Room.

A deep sign came from the purple clad astronaut, as she glanced upwards from the PDF while her footsteps echoed down the metallic hallways. Electrical was always a curious place on the ship, despite housing all the wires for the ships systems and lights for the entire vessel, it was most often the darkness place. The very thought of staying in there for an extended period of time unnerved her to her core.

Still, she had to persist. She had signed up as part of this crew to explore strange new worlds and even to find new and invasive species possibly living among the stars. A true explorer to her time, and they had left the space port weeks ago, yet there was a strong sense of unease across the crew since they departed.

Shaking her head once again, Purple continued her way down the hall, passing through the storage room as she gave a wave to one of her fellow crewmates. A smile grew under her helmet as she watched the Brown clad crewmate with a small plant sticking out of her helmet empty the trash chute, jettisoning the excess into the vacuum of space. Happy to see a friendly face, her thoughts were renewed for a few moments, before purple reached her destination.

The doors to electrical were open and imposing, as just beyond the threshold, a darkness seemed to loom over the entire room. Blinking lights of the consoles and systems could be seen along the walls as a deep shuddering breath came from inside her helmet. No point in wasting time, she had a job to do, and this wasn't going to slow her down. Taking a deep breath and puffing out her chest, she crossed the threshold and entered electrical.

Nearly all her confidence drained in an instant, as the constant humming of the electrical systems were low. The panels before her were labeled with several markings of danger of electrocution or worse, including different warning signs of several varieties. Yet she persisted reaching into a tool pouch as she pulled out a single screwdriver and began to undo the screws on the panel before her.

Prying the panel off the wall, Purple was greeted to a mess of wires, nearly none of them were connected as she let out an exasperated sigh. "Who even is running this ship? I need to call a meeting again about these stupid wires..." Purple grumbled out as she began to drag out some wires and began to reconnect them to others.

Unbeknownst to her, as she was leaning over in front of the panel working through the cacophony of wires, a new figure loomed in the doorway to electrical, a tall darkened silhouette. It began to advance on the female crewmate slowly, not making a sound, as soft curses came from the smaller purple form who got a shock from a pair of wires. It wasn't until it was right behind her, that she took notice, as with a swivel of her head a blood curdling scream came out.

"Hi Purple." The deep baritone voice of the tall crewmate said.

"Black! What the hell are you doing man?!" Purple yelled as she looked up at the tall one standing just inches away. Despite his taller appearance, dwarfing her by a whole foot, she raised her arm and slugged him in the side while groaning in exasperation. "What did I tell you about sneaking up on me?!"

"I wanted to check on you." Black responded while unmoving, her punch doing nothing to him as he stared down at the smaller crewmate.

"Well that's nice and all but—" As purple inhaled deeply and placed her hands atop her hips. "Give me a bit of a warning, instead of brooding over me like some kind of vulture."
