Nico sat in his room. Hands on his head with a worried look on his face. Why had he volunteered to be in a stranger's house? His hands reached to the tops of his head and he breathed a little harder. Percy obviously couldn't stay here, he had a family. He had to do it. He had to stay here. He didn't want to spend more time in Hades, so this was his choice.
So far, the avengers hadn't pressured him out of his room so far. They seemed like a pushy bunch, but whether they were naturally uncomfortable with him because he was a child of hades or wanted to give him space he was left alone.
Alone with his own thoughts to think about what to do next, or obsess over past mistakes. With him it could go either way.
Nico started unpacking his few belongings. Then he started scouting out the room. A nice simple queen sized bed along with a nightstand with a lamp on top. The room had a closet, and more drawers with the TV on top. There was a small coffee table in the corner with a small couch. The bathroom was connected to the room.
He went to the bathroom. He needed to call Leo. Nico wouldn't put it past the avengers to bug the place, and he needed someone to check it out. If Leo ended up moving in, Nico wouldn't mind.
He went to the bathroom closing the door. The avengers wouldn't bug the bathroom, right? Nico got the impression they were nosy, but surely not that nosy.
Grabbing the coin from his pocket, he flipped it into it disappeared. Suddenly the image of Leo at the camp came to view.
"You have reached Leo McShizzle, what can I do for you?"
"I am staying at the avengers tower. I need you to check if they bugged my room."
"Dude, your staying at the avengers tower! I want to stay too! Can I stay there?"
Nico nodded. "They would let you. Just ask and tell them your a demigod."
"I am going to go pack!"
The message ended. Nico smiled, Maybe this living arrangement wouldn't be so bad.
* * *
The avengers didn't know what to think. Clearly the kid had some problems. They all watched from the camera's as he clutched his head. He seemed to be thinking. A thought had crossed their minds. What was going on in Nico's mind.
Natasha spoke up. "He has signs of trauma."
Clint nodded. "Yeah, he does."
"Poor kid," Steve said.
"Do you think he has scars like Percy did," Bruce asked.
"Maybe," Natasha said.
They all watched his seem to be breathing harder. He was probably trying to repress a memory from surfacing. Finally he started unpacking. He packed light. There were only a few items that he unpacked. Finally he walked over to the bathroom.
"Okay, we watched enough," Steve said.
"Please don't tell me you bugged the kid's bathroom, Tony," Bruce asked.
Tony looked offended. "I am not going to bug the bathroom with cameras," Tony said.
"Cameras," Natasha said, Natasha did not miss the word usage that Tony had picked.
"Tony you did not," Bruce asked.
Tony did not look sorry. "It's the only way we are going to get answers."
"I'm out," Bruce said. "I am going to my room and getting away from this before this goes and blows up in your faces."
"I don't know if this is right," Steve said. "He is a kid and he was put under our protection."
"We don't know anything about this kid. For all we know he could be doing meth. We need information to protect this kid," Tony said,
"I doubt he is doing meth," Steve said.
Natasha nodded along with him. Clint nodding as well. They would have seen the signs.
Tony shrugged helplessly. "We don't know that for sure, which is why we got to check on him. For his own protection."
"This invasion of privacy is starting to feel like World War 2 again. I'm out," Steve said. He walked off and headed towards his room.
"And then there were three," Clint muttered.
"Friday replay whatever was said in the bathroom."
"You have reached Leo McShizzle, what can I do for you?" A voice that was not Nico's appeared in the bathroom. All of them looked at each other. Did Nico have a phone?
"I am staying at the avengers tower. I need you to check if they bugged my room." Natasha raised an eyebrow. Paranoid much. Clint nodded. Tony looked a little bit at a loss.
"The trust," Tony muttered.
"You did bug his room," Clint said.
"Still that is either smart or a paranoid move," Natasha said.
"The voice I feel like I heard it before," Tony said.
"You have. Leo is the kid we met on the battlefield," Natasha said.
"Smart kid," Tony said, remembering.
"Dude, your staying at the avengers tower! I want to stay too! Can I stay there?" Tony looked alarmed. Another kid. No, he could barely keep track of Nico.
"They would let you. Just ask and tell them your a demigod."
"No, don't say yes kid. Don't do it kid," Tony muttered.
Natasha and Clint looked amused. This was going to be fun.
"I am going to go pack!" They heard Leo say. Tony groaned.
"What's wrong Tony scared of having kids under your care," Natasha asked.
"Awe iron dad, how cute," Clint said.
"You realize that we are taking kids under our care right? So that means you guys will be parents as well."
Natasha froze at the words parents, but the face of nothing encompassed her face again. "Of course," Natasha said.
"I guess this means one thing," Clint said.
The others nodded and looked at each other saying a phrase for battle. "Avengers Assemble."
