London opened the door to the storage closet. It was stacked with cleaning supplies and toilet paper. There were a few medical tools there as well, but they looked like they hadn't been used in a very long time. Next to the stacks of toilet paper, there was a large box that was overflowing with objects. London picked the box up and handed it to Serafina. She began looking through all of the things that were there. The most intriguing things she could see were a keychain shaped like a record player, a cheap ring, and an old keyboard phone with a sticker of a red eye on the back. "I want this," she said, showing London the phone. "The eye on the case looks like our eyes". "Cool. I was going to pick it at first, but I decided to go for some marbles that I found in a bag. I thought they were neat," London said. "Plus, I can't figure out those phones". There was something about London that Serafina couldn't quite decipher. Like they were able to be cool without even noticing it. What Serafina did not know was that London felt intrigued about how she acted, too. "Why is it that you guys haven't shown me out of the hospital yet?" Serafina asked, attempting to break the silence. "We thought that you were too injured to go check it out, but if you feel like your capable, we'll take you," replied London. "I do feel like I can. What does it look like out there?" Serafina asked curiously. "Looks pretty much the same that it did before, except there are no people and a few animals walking around. But they haven't been hostile yet". "Hostile. That's a funny word". Startled, both London and Serafina turned around to see who had spoken. It was Anabelle. "Ana! What the hell? Don't scare us like that!" London exclaimed. "Sorry. I just wanted to see what was taking you guys so long," Anabelle replied.
Just then, Serafina's new phone turned on. She almost dropped it. On the screen, a large red eye appeared. Just like the one on the case. Just like the teen's eyes. "What the fuck," muttered Anabelle. Serafina thought she was too pure to curse. She thought wrong. Anabelle was a trash mouth, but she swore more in her thoughts than in real life. "Electricity barely works. It's impossible to charge a phone and, believe me, we've tried. I tried to turn that phone on before and it didn't work," London said. They seemed worried. The phone began blaring out a piercing sound, completely uncontrolled. "I'm going to go deaf!" shouted Annabelle. After a few seconds of the phone's speaker blasting sound, it quieted down and an announcement was displayed on the screen.
To whom it may concern,
We know who you are, and we know what is happening because we made it happen. For now, don't ask too many questions and don't wonder about too many things.
Not to worry, The Everything will solve everything.
"Why would 'everything' be capitalized?" asked London. "No idea. We should probably not ask too many questions, you know, for our own sake," said Serafina. Just then, someone came running in London, Serafina, and Anabelle's direction. For a split second, London thought the worst. "The people who sent the message have come to get us. Shit," they thought. To their avail, it was just Gaten and Thomas. "What the hell was that?" exclaimed Thomas. Serafina explained how she, Anabelle, and London found the phone and then proceeded to read the message the three of them had been sent. "Okay," muttered Thomas. He looked nervous as if the whole world had just landed on his shoulders and he was supposed to hold it up all on his own. "We don't ask questions then. We just look out for each other for now," he said. Serafina wanted to argue against him. This was crazy. Absolutely ridiculous and terribly bizarre. Not only that, it was something that had never happened to anyone before. Serafina wanted to ask questions. She didn't just have one or two questions to ask, she had all the questions. But she was smarter than that. She knew she couldn't ask them, as much as she wanted to. "I'm not stupid. For now, I'll stay calm. Just stay calm," she thought to herself.
Serafina looked to the side to see London staring at her. London looked startled and disturbed. Their eyes wide, and mouth slightly open, showing concern. At that moment, Serafina just wanted to be with London. To speak with them. To learn anything and everything about them. They barely knew each other, but Serafina had a feeling that there was something special with her newfound friend. London's large green eyes intrigued Serafina, even more, every time she looked at them. She wanted to touch their washed-out blue hair, run her fingers through it, and listen to London. "What's going on with me?" She thought. "I've only known London for a few hours. Why do I feel like this?". Before she could answer herself, Gaten snapped his fingers brought her out of her trance. "Hey, Serafina! Snap out of it," he said. "Can I call you Seri? Yeah, Seri is simpler". Before she could object, Gaten kept on speaking. "Listen, we're running out of food and water, so we've got to go find a K-Mart or some shit. Did that phone's sound do anything to you, you know, mentally?". "I feel fine," she answered. "Alright, let's go then. I'm hungry as fuck!" Exclaimed London. They seemed to have calmed down. The kids grabbed a few bags and filled them up with anything they'd need. Serafina put the phone she found in her bag, just in case. She looked over and saw Thomas taking an ax from a cabinet. The cabinet had a bold message stuck on it.
USE ONLY DURING EMERGENCIES
"Why the ax?" Questioned Serafina. "Well, there's no one to let us in the stores, is there?" He answered.
