chapter 8~the cleaning princess

???'s PoV

I watched as Y/n and that Nagito boy walked out of the old building.  They were quite an interesting pair. Once they were out of sight, I snuck into the building.

It was a lovely place. Rustic. But I was here to do something in particular...

There was a panel in the storage room that led to the crawlspace beneath the floor. The panel creaked as I moved it, and I hurried under.

Once I reached the table, I knew exactly what to do. It was in the corner of the room, so no one else should trigger it. I hope it helps Y/n.

Your PoV

After leaving the building, I dragged Nagito along to find Sonia. I figured if we were in a group, Nagito might... feel better.

"Hey, Y/n! Nagito!" Kazuichi announced our arrival. Sonia, Gundham and him stood together in the hotel lobby. I nodded to them and smiled.

"How did cleaning go?" Sonia asked. The sun was gradually setting. Guess we took longer than we thought...

"Ah, it went well." I answered. Nagito was still beside me, only with a charming smile on his face. "You mortals took a long time. Was it really that hard?" Gundham asked. What a sweetheart.

"Hey, you shouldn't say that! Y/n and Nagito worked hard for us!" Sonia retorted.

"Yeah, she's right!" Of course, Souda had to agree. Gundham scoffed at them.

"Hey, Nagito. You feelin okay? You've been quiet this whole time."

"Hm? Oh yes, I'm fine, Kazuichi. Guess all that cleaning really took the energy out of me!"

"Oh my, it's about time for Byakuya's party!" Sonia declared. It was getting late. Nagito and I followed the three to the building.

"Nagito..."

"Yeah?"

"Nothing happened, okay? Nothing happened."

He gave me a soft smile. "Yeah. Nothing happened.."

Byakuya was at the entrance, waiting for us. "Hey, I'm gonna have to pat you all down." He announced. Why..? Why would he do that?

Kazuichi went first, followed by Gundham, and Sonia. When it was down to Nagito and me, I remembered the knife I had in my boot. Considering there was paint on the table too, I'd look very suspicious!

"Y/n." Nagito was done, and it was my turn.

I pulled the knife out of my boot. Nagito provided enough cover that I could rip off the tape. I handed over the knife, without a trace of paint. Luck must be on my side...

"Y/n. Your sword please."

"Oh, yeah! Sorry." I handed that over to him aswell. He still patted me down.

I gave him my sword and the knife I had stashed in my hair. He locked them away in his little safe thingy, and prepared to pat me down. Nagito gave me a worried look, also remembering the knife.

Byakuya patted me down, but completely missed the knife. I was safe.

"That was a close one" Nagito whispered in my ear. I nodded and caught up with Sonia.

"Ah, Y/n! I'm sorry for leaving you behind!" She bowed.

"It's no problem, Sonia, really!" I laughed. She was a sweet girl. Kazuichi still stood protectively by her side, until Teruteru came out with food. Sonia stood with Nagito and I.

"FOOOOOOOOOOODDD!!!" We could hear Akane cheer. She was definitely an interesting one.

"You two did quite a wonderful job!"

"Awe, thank you! It was mostly Y/n's doing." Nagito piped up. Sonia giggled.

"From the Ultimate Warrior, that's quite amazing! I have never had the privilege of cleaning!" I laughed at her. She acted like she was missing out on so much.

Not much later, Hajime showed up. Nagito went to see him, but I stood by Sonia.

"So, Sonia... Do you really want to clean and stuff?" I asked.

"Hm? Well.. I do. Where I'm from, the servants do all of that. I'm waited on hand and foot, and, well... I want to see what it's like to be normal!" Her eyes drooped.

"I promise you, you're not missing out on much. But if it means that much to you... When we get out of here, I'll let you clean my room!" I laughed.

"Really?" She gasped. I was half joking, but... "Of course." She clapped and hugged me. Surprisingly, I didn't mind it.

But then the lights went out.
