Nekoma just left, Kenma might have his eyes on the video game but he heard the doors close. Why did Yamamoto reject the bbq? he was so excited a minute ago and because of this he's now stuck with Kuroo.

Kenma quickly kept his game, speed walking to the door. He needs to get out or else he might have an embaressing break down again. A red clothed chest blocked his way before he got to the door.

"You're not leaving. We have to clean this up" Kuroo gestured at the balls scattered across the court. He sternly looked at Kenma.

"And we're going to have a talk..."

The captain gently held his setter's hand before grabbing the ball container.

Kenma scanned the area, he's too tired for this and his feet itched. Maybe he should make a run for it? But he wouldn't make it, the door is behind Kuroo and too far.

"Now that we're alone-"

Kuroo threw the ball in the container.

"Why are you avoiding me? Did I do something?"

Kenma never felt so uncomfortable his entire life. Kuroo stood in-front, too close for his liking knowing that he might escape. His hazelnut eyes searched for answers but Kenma wasn't going to give it to him. The smaller took a step back, fighting the urge to look away.

"I'm fine and I'm not avoiding you. Why would I?" It was a miracle to have his voice steady.

"Kenma!" Kenma flinched, his body froze in fright. Kuroo never snapped at him. His face was so scary if they were in a cartoon, red steam rose from his nose and ears.

"You're avoiding me so that means we have a problem! Did you think I didnt notice? After we played in the arcade, You ignored my messages then you avoided me whenever we cross paths- hey, are you okay?"

Kenma's surrounding spun, his eyelids heavy. With semi closed eyes and a swaying body his hands clumsily reached for support. The throbbing in his head increased until the darkness overwhelmed him.

Thankfully, Kuroo caught Kenma before he fell on the hard cold floor. His heart lept in fear when he listened to Kenma's irregular slow heart beat. "Fuck"

Kuroo slammed the door open, not bothering to close it. He rushed to the school building to the infirmary almost in tears. What the hell happened to his best friend?

---
Kenma woke up to a foreign bed. His nose crinckled, the room reeked of antiseptic and alcohol. After a few seconds he registered a hand holding his. Kuroo's frantic eyes found his.

"You're finally awake" Kenma's chest squeezed. He didnt want to worry Kuroo, the hazelnut eyes gazed at him.

"We're in the infirmiry if you're wondering. You fainted 2 hours ago in the middle of our conversation. But are you okay now?" Without persmission, Kuroo cupped Kenma's small face and as much as Kenma wanted to push him away, he didnt have it in him Kuroo's eyes were puffy and red.

"Did you cry?"

"You scared me. Don't scare me like that ever again" Kuroo sighed closing his eyes before opening them again just to make sure Kenma is conscious sitting with an unreadable face.

"The fucking nurse said you were worn out but it has to be fucking more than that your heart slowed down kenma! You were supposed to be rushed to the hospital but thankfully your heart returned to normal when I held your hand..."

Fate is responsible for it. Kenma looked at his string connected to Kuroo's pinky. He'll die soon, that's the bitter future waiting for him- for all those unrequited love life who can see the cursed thread. It wasnt the first time his heart slowed down, he kinda fainted alone last week in his room in the middle of the night.
