Asma was beyond exhausted by the time they got home, at 10:30 pm. They stopped at his parents first before heading home.
They freshened up first and changed into nightwear, had a little chat before Asma headed downstairs to make a smoothie as she is craving for one.
She met Grace in the kitchen, finishing up some cleaning. "Sannu Aunty," Grace greeted.
Asma looked at her and smiled," Sannu grace, an gama aikin?" She asked opening her fridge.
"Eh." She said as she squeezed the water out from the towel. Asma nodded and grabbed some frozen bananas, kale and yogurt."Do you need anything, Aunty?" She asked. Asma shook her head, "no thank you, you can go to bed."
"Okay, Goodnight."
"Goodnight."She brought out her smoothie maker, peeled two bananas, cut them in chunks, added a few pieces of kale, and poured half of the yogurt into the maker. Once done, poured the content into her favorite marble tumbler with a lid and put the rest away in a container in the fridge.
She headed back to the living room just as maheer was coming down the stairs.
"What are you drinking?" He asked sitting beside her on the couch after turning on the TV. "Smoothie." She said and stretched her tumbler to his mouth for him to taste. He did and smiled saying "This is sweeter than one you made yesterday."
"Allah? Ni Kuma I prefer yesterdays. It's because I don't have pawpaw and coconut that's why I didn't make it." She took another sip of the smoothie.
He smiled and pulled her to his chest. She smiled snuggling more into his chest.
"Thank you so much Maheer, today is one of the best days of my life." She muttered and he smiles.
"It's my pleasure love, what you need, you get." he smiled pecking her hair.
She looked up at him smiling, "I love you sooooooooooooo much," she said dragging on the 'so'.
"And I love you even more" he smiled and kissed her.
She laid back down on his chest. "I am so glad I married you." She sighed and brought his hand to wrap around her even more. "Thank you babe you bring out the best in me."
They then sat there in silence, listening to each other's heart rhythm. She looked up quickly, almost scaring him, saying "I forgot to tell you, Ammi gave me some of your clothes when you were a baby, they are so cute wallah." He visibly sighed and then smiled. "I have already decided which one our baby is going to wear insha Allah when I give birth to him."
"Iyyeh har kinyi deciding." He teased pecking her forehead. She nodded with a huge smile, "let me go get them." She said and quickly stood up. He caught her arm, "Careful sweetheart, careful."
"Okay." She smiled and jogged upstairs to her room, picked the small suitcase on her bed, and went back downstairs.
"Look at the one I chose." She said after opening the suitcase and picked up a beautiful white jumpsuit. It still looks new as if it has never been worn before.
He smiled and took the clothing from her, "I can't believe Ammi kept all these clothes and never told me about it." He said looking from the white jumpsuit to the rest of the clothes sprang on Asma's lap and baby bump as she smiled, admiring them.
"She said she has been keeping it to give it to your wife and so.... " she trailed off picking a blue jumpsuit with 'Mummy's little angel' written on it.
"I love this. I can imagine baby maheer in it," she beamed and he smiles.
After looking at the clothes for like 10 minutes, they headed to Asma's room and put all the clothes in a wardrobe with a collection of many other baby clothes. When they go out together they always stop in a mall and buy clothes for the baby. Sometimes when maheer goes out alone he buys, same as Asma.

Two days laterIt was Friday, and Ramadan is starting in a week, so Asma decided to go to the market to do some grocery shopping.
She was dressed in a beautiful brown maternity gown, which she finds most comfortable these days.
In her room, she grabbed all the essentials that she is going to need, her hijab, bag, water, then headed downstairs calling Grace. "Grace, Are you ready? Let's go."
"Toh," Grace said coming out from her room wearing her traditional clothes. She loves traditional attires.
Asma smiled, "quickly close the back door and meet me in the car." She said as she walked to the door. Grace answered with yes and headed to do what she was asked.
Asma's phone started ringing as she walked out to her car, Mammy' was the caller.
She picked the call with a huge smile. "Assalam Alaikum mammy, ina wuni" she greeted.
"Wa Alaikum salam Asma, how are you and ya shirye shiryen Azumi(How's preparation for Ramadan)?" Mammy asked
"Alhamdulillah mammy, gashi Muna tayi.""Masha Allah, ya jiki jiki?"
"Alhamdullilah mammy.""Gashi zaa fara Azumi, when are you due?"
"Two months from now in sha Allah." She answered with a big smile. She is just so excited to meet her child."Masha Allah, Allah ya kaimu."
"Ameen Ameen, How's Yasmin and khalifa?""They're both fine Alhamdullilah."
"And baba?" She asked, "I miss him." She added."He's fine, he traveled to Yola earlier today for a meeting," she said
"Eyyah, I will call him later in sha Allah. I'm on my way to the market now."
"Ok tahm, bye sweetheart "
"Bye, mammy."Grace came out minutes later and they went off to the market. They spent about an hour in the market from one shop to another and got all that was needed.
It was on their way back when Asma started feeling pains in her lower abdomen, also a very terrible headache. She felt a similar pain earlier in the morning but decided to ignore it, but now as they walk back to the car the pain started intensifying. She leaned against a wall unable to walk.
"La haula wala kuwata illa billah," she kept muttering.
"Sannu Aunty, sannu," Grace said for the umpteen time now. When she saw how helpless they were, she said, "give me your phone so I can call Uncle, he needs to know."Asma shook her head, "There is no need to tell him Grace, you will just make him worry for no reason. The pain will go away, it's natural in pregnancy."
"But not this type of pain Aunty, it's too much. I know it's not my place to say this but uncle has to know, he is your husband and the father of your baby." Grace said taking her hand and gently guiding her to her car.
"I know Grace, I know." She murmured closing her eyes as Grace helped her sit in the car. "Thank you." Grace went to a shop and bought bottled water. Asma kept muttering some dua's hoping for the pain to subside, but it just wasn't subsiding. It isn't like the other pains, this was different.
She bit her lips thinking of 101 ways to inform Maheer about her current situation.
As if on cue, her phone started ringing. Maheer was the caller. She watched as the call ended unable to pick it up, then as it started ringing for the second time, she picked it up with much difficulty.
"Aslamu alaikum my love, are you still at the market? Na dawo gida bakyanan." he said with a note of smile in his voice.
"My....stomach...My baby..." she groaned in pain.
"Subhanallah. Asma. What's wrong with you? Where are you?" Was the last thing she heard before falling into unconsciousness.
