Heyyyy okay so today was thanksgiving and I don't like thanksgiving so I'm just writing. My mom made tamales and they were SMACK. I hope you enjoy this chapter. Vote and comment, if you want 🤍

"But- she's just a person who can summon food." Danna argued. "How can they shape shift?"

Nova explained the situation as fast as she could. The team tried to look for her outside, but she had either vanished or taken another form.

They had come back to headquarters to have a meeting in a random empty room in the building.

No one was wearing their Renegades uniforms because they weren't technically on patrol. Nova still wore the boots, though.

"I asked myself the same question. It doesn't make sense." Nova thought about her epiphany that she had when she was fighting Atlas. "What is it was all an illusion? Everything. The food summoning, the shape shifting, and everything else."

"But she's worked for the Renegades for years. This whole time, they've been an enemy?" Adrian added in.

"I don't know. Maybe it's not even them at all? Maybe that's a form that whoever it is has taken. This person had my brac- oh.. oh my.. I have to find Maggie." She ran out of the room, searching for Maggie. She spotted her in a cafeteria area with some people.

"Oh my stars, Maggie. Can I talk to you?" Nova asked.

"Why? So you can accuse me of stealing your stupid bracelet? News flash, Nova, I didn't-"

"I know you didn't. Just please hear me out. Please." Nova reached out to touch her hand.

Maggie flinched, but didn't pull away from the touch. Nova took this as a good sign to keep talking.

"Can we go somewhere?" Nova asked.

Maggie seemed to consider it for a long time. Although, merely four seconds after she asked, she sighed over dramatically and said "Fine."

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

"I'm sorry what? What do you mean that a Renegade is actually- wait. Where have I heard this before?"

Maggie seemed mildly unsurprised by this revelation. She was unsurprised. It's not like this hasn't happened before. An Anarchist masquerading as a Renegade. It was Nova the first time. She would never let Nova know, but she wanted to thank her for putting her to sleep during the battle, after Callum.

"Please don't even start with me, Magpie. I'm serio-"

"Will all Renegades meet in the arena with their teams immediately please," a voice said over the intercom. They also got the message on her wristband.

"Oh for all the stars" Nova cursed. "Now?"

She looked apologetically at Maggie. "Can we finish this soon? I have things I want to say."

"I- I don't know." She was fiddling with something in her pocket. "Yeah. Sure. Later."

They walked together to the arena. They weren't very talkative on the way there. It wasn't like Nova didn't have much to say, as she had plenty of things to talk about with Maggie, but Nova wanted to give Maggie her full attention during those conversations.

"I actually don't know whose team you're on, but you can come sit with us? If you want." Nova told Maggie.

She fiddled in her pocket some more. She looked nervous, which was way out of character for her. Maggie was usually a snarky girl, and had a fire spirit.

"Yeah okay. I'll come sit with you."

Holding hands, in fear of losing each other in the large crowd because of their shared unfortunate height, they looked for Sketch's Team.

They found the team sitting near the council.

"Are you okay?" Adrian asked Nova.

"Yeah. I'll be okay." Nova kissed his cheek as she sat down. She still wasn't sure wasn't sure how she got so luck as to be a part of his family. Not only his family, but their second family. Ruby. Oscar. Danna. Narcissa. She was loved by everyone.

Except this new threat. An Anarchist? As far as Nova knew, she and Leroy were the only ones left. And they both reached an understanding with the Renegades. They were on good terms.

"We are here to discuss a new threat to the Renegades." Hugh's voice came from the stage, interrupting Nova's thoughts. "An alleged Anarchist has arisen to try to kill our own insomnia. We would like to assign a team to try to apprehend this person. The target is a Renegade. Atalanta "Atlas" Estevez, alias, Buffet. She was an employee here at HQ. They are to be considered to be armed and dangerous."

The crowd seemed very confused. Atlas had always been the nicest employee. Always happy and laughing while helping any team with anything at all. She would never hurt anyone. Nova didn't even think they had any combat training. Nothing about this case made any sense.

"Insomnia, are you willing to be assigned to this case, seeing as the target has your bracelet?" Hugh asked.

Nova looked to Adrian for support. He gave her a look that she understood clearly. I know you can handle this if you want to. It's up to you.

Nova stood and said "I am."

Hugh smiled. "Excellent. We want to add someone to work with you, who might help you find your bracelet, therefore finding Estevez. Magpie? Would you be willing to help Insomnia?"

Maggie? I know that we have been kind of on okay terms, but I think I just ruined that. And I've never worked with her on a mission before. Nova thought. Maggie wasn't looking at her. She seemed to be deep in thought.

"Yeah. Okay." Maggie said, but she didn't stand like Nova did.

"Great!" Hugh said with a smile. "If you two would stay after dismissal, we will talk with you both. You are dismissed."
