you turned around, seeing a young man who has excellent features with a confused face. it's like he had just seen a ghost, he looked so..lost. he took quite a while to stare at my face, looking at it like he had just found something he lost.
"who..who are you?" he asked, you knotted your eyebrows. "me? im jeon y/n." and as soon as your name came out, he sighed. not a relief, but..disappointment. "why'd you need to know?" you asked, who was he?
"nothing, thanks." he looked so fragile before i told him my name, but now he's so cold. walking away just like that? was he hitting on me? what's wrong with my name?
"hm, that's weird."
you brushed it off, maybe he thought i was someone he knew. a childhood friend maybe. you head back to your car, starting the engine and taking your phone to connect it via bluetooth when you realized you left it at the bench.
"shit! oh god please, i don't wanna lose my phone." you were running, sprinting basically. i worked day and night to earn my phone, hence why i looked like a psycho sprinting. i got to the bench, seeing my phone there untouched, as i sighed in relief.
"thank god. almost lost you." you had your hand on your chest, your heart was beating fast like you had just run for a marathon. in the corner of your eye, you saw a familiar figure sitting a few benches beside you.
he looked like he was crying, hiding his face in his palms. he looked way familiar, his clothes, his hair. "oh! it's the dude from before." he seemed like he wasn't the type to cry, it kinda makes you feel soft for him. "he looks so..broken? damn." you felt sad, for a stranger you had just met.
you sneak behind him, he was crying a lot harder. you tapped his shoulder, "uhm, sir? are you alright?" your voice was automatically soft, trying to make it as soothing as possible. he jumped, apparently my soft voice wasn't enough to not make him surprised.
i mean, the look on his face must been the same when he asked me who i was. "ah!" he wiped away his tears, still sniffing and clearing his throat. "what are you doing here?" he tried to make himself sound dominant but after i saw his soft spot i couldn't see it anymore.
"me? i can ask you the same. crying here alone? damn who hurt you." you sat beside him, trying to make someone's day a little better. that's what your mother had always taught you, be kind to other people. "i don't need anyone. why are you sitting next to me did i say you could?"
jeez okay mister. "uh- i'm sorry but i'm just trying to help-" "i forgive you. you can leave." you squint your eyes, are you.. kidding me? "hm. did someone hurt you so bad that you-" he clicked his tongue, making you stop talking. "oh okay. i'll just go have a good one." you hurried and get out of there, he looked scary and intimidating.
"hm, lesson learned. okay." you walked back to your car. this was one heck of a day, you thought. you drove back, until it started raining. you had always loved whenever it rains, you couldn't wait to go back home and sleep.
you reached your house, parking and taking your keys. you were going to unlock the door, but the key wasn't right. the rain had already drowned your clothes, they were wet. "you know what? since i'm already drenched in rain, let's have some fun."
you took off your slides, your phone and your wallet back inside the car. there was no one else, your driveway was big so you took the chance. you knew it sounded very cringe and so childish, but you were dancing, singing, basically all you wanted to do under the rain — well, except for kissing someone passionately while the rain poured on you two.
it had always been in a list of yours, wondering when that could happen, but hey let's enjoy the rain for now. you poured out all your feelings, not scared if someone can hear you because of how hard the rain was. instead of making you feel uneasy, the rain had always make you feel relaxed.
for once in a long time you felt more relaxed than ever. not thinking about anything (except for the fact that you're broke at this point — let's set that aside) nor being stressed. you're a grown woman, 20 at this point and somehow you didn't feel sad, or heartbroken when your ex broke up with you.
"hm. well clearly he's not for me. i'm out of his league." (ugh self love), you were dancing like no other. you felt as if you were inside a movie. you felt relaxed in a bad situation, weird huh?
"FUCK YOU!" you screamed, laying there on your driveway until the rain started to ease a little.
"i'm 20, i don't have anything to worry about. my life is great, i mean i have everything i need .. not everything but okay."
you started to realize that you were no longer in a relationship, which technically means you can no longer cuddle with anyone. waking up to them and feeling like you were in heaven. the thought of that immediately made you feel weight-hearted. damn your emotions were so .. mixed up right now.
you had realized it's been too long in your driveway, finally standing up and going inside your house, wet. "i live here alone now .." you sighed. no more morning kisses, or morning cuddles. no more breakfast in bed.
"ah , what a day to be single."
