"I can't believe we are doing this... I thought you were kidding when you asked me if I wanted to go to this concert." Becky was in shock.

"Nope. I wasn't joking. You know we both secretly like One Direction."

"Yeah, but to get backstage passes... That's a little extreme. Don't you think?"

"Maybe. But when they're free, you can't complain. Winning that contest was nice. Otherwise we never would see them in concert. What was I supposed to do? Turn the tickets down?"

"No! But you didn't have to try so hard to win them."

Becky and Olivia continued to talk about the concert and the tickets. They walked down the street to a little coffee shop where they were planning on having an afternoon snack. A cold wind was blowing, turning their noses pink.

The bell jingled as they walked inside. The smell of coffee and sweets was in the air. Olivia walked up to the counter and ordered two slices of lemon cake and two hot chocolates. After getting the food, Olivia went to sit down with Becky at a table in the corner near the heater.

"Here you go. A piece of lemon cake and a hot chocolate." said Olivia as she set the items down on the table.

"Sounds good. You know. I've been thinking. We should get a new outfit for the concert." Becky took a sip of her hot chocolate.

Olivia chuckled. "Becky, weren't you just saying I was being a little extreme for getting the backstage passes?"

"Yeah, but we should look nice."

"I won't argue with that."

The two girls talked about many different things as they finished their cake and hot chocolate, but the conversation always managed to come back to the concert. After they finished they got up and went back outside into the cold outdoors. They hurried down two blocks to the mall and went inside. Heat greeted them. Walking to their favorite department store they talked and laughed.

"Here we are." said Becky as they reached the women's department. "Now we have to decide what we want to wear."

"I'm not wearing a dress. I can see that ending badly." Olivia walked over to the blouses.

"I agree." Becky said. "No dresses."

The girls looked at clothes for the next hour. They each walked out of the store with a new outfit. Becky had a new pair of jeans, a burgundy top with a scarf, and new boots. Olivia had bought new jeans also, along with a green top and scarf, and new boots. They walked back to Becky's house, went inside and put their shopping bags on Becky's bed.

"That was fun." said Olivia sitting down on Becky's clean bedroom floor. "I can't wait till Saturday when we'll get to wear our new clothes."

"I know. Just two more days." The girls sat in silence for a few moments, thinking about Saturday night.

"I'm not going to lie." said Olivia. "I'm really excited. And the people who gave me the backstage passes said only three other people were in the group with us. The band 'doesn't like meeting any more than five people at one time.' I guess it's so they can talk to one person at a time."

"I'm excited too. Are we meeting them after the concert?"

"Yep. Our seats during the concert aren't great, but that's okay, because we meet them afterwards."

"We'll have a good time."

"Yeah, making fun of all the screaming girls."

"And laughing at them when they pass out because they saw the boys."

Becky and Olivia started laughing.
