new year's party at vernons friends house

"are you sure they'll be okay with me coming here?" minghao asked with slight worry.

"yeah, they love making new friends!" vernon lightly patted minghaos shoulder as they entered the large house.

"guess who's here!!" vernon shouted out and his friends turned towards him.

"is it santa?" one of the many boys in the room asked which made everyone laugh a little.

"no it's vernon." vernon frowned as he walked into the living room with everyone. "also, meet minghao!"

"minghao?" a deep voice was heard which caught minghaos attention.

"wonwoo? what are you doing here?" everyone looked at the two boys with their heads going back and forth in sync as they listened to the conversation.

"i came here with junhui, he's my date..." wonwoo's voice got quieter towards the end. slight tension was filling in the air and minghao didn't like it but he also felt a little annoyed that wonwoo has a date.

"oh that's great, vernon is my date." minghao said it-then regretted it. vernon looked at him with wide eyes and minghao awkwardly wrapped his arm around the other with a light pinch on the shoulder to signal that vernon needs to play along.

"OW- i mean WOW...that's a cool plant." vernon started blurting random things out but thankfully some of his friends had their heads stuck in the clouds and didn't realize that vernon was acting odd.

one of the older few of the boys looked at vernon suspiciously but didn't question it because he didn't want everyone to make vernon uncomfortable with a load of questions.

the mood slowly got better and all the boys were actually having way to much fun.

"can we eat now hyung? i'm so hungry~" seungkwan tugged lightly at mingyu's shirt and he realized that they should eat soon.

"yeah i guess we should start now, can some of you help me set the table please." mingyu got up and seungkwan came with him of course, joshua and chan also got up to help him.

jun and wonwoo stayed where they were and talked while being cuddled up in their giant stack of blankets and pillows. seokmin was talking on the couch with seungcheol and jihoon. soonyoung was no where to be seen but no one really questioned it.

vernon was talking with minghao when jeonghan suddenly came over.

"oh hi hyung."

"hi vernon. now i knew you both are lying about the relationship so just fess up." minghaos eyes widened and vernons jaw dropped.

"how did you do that..."

"it's a talent, anyways~"

"ah well, wonwoo is my ex...and seeing him with jun made me feel a little, how do i say it?" minghao put his hand on his chin to think.

"jealous?" vernon said questionably.

"i guess so...i always told myself to never be jealous of someone's well-being but i guess that seeing him with someone else but me still being alone kind of hurt my pride." minghao frowned and turned towards vernon. "i'm sorry for using you like that, it was wrong of me." vernon shook his head.

"that's okay hyung, i get it." jeonghan smiled at the two.

"okay i'll leave you both two it since it seems like you've figured it out among yourselves. now i need to find soonyoung before he messes something up." jeonghan sighed but there was a small smile. he secretly loves running after his boyfriend.

"thank you for being so understanding about this, i appreciate it a lot." minghao gave a warm smile to vernon and vernon wrapped his arm around minghao lightly. both boys were comfortable with the skin ship despite it not being a norm between them.
