The loud sound of the ax coming down hard on the log and the satisfying crack of the splintering wood fills the forest environment. Birds screech in surprise and fly away to safety.
Flora opens an eye and pouts. "Poor birds," she whispers as she sees them fly away.
Her attention is drawn back to the big man with an ax when another loud crack is heard. He cuts the big logs clean like butter. Flora was absolutely appalled. The one time she attempted to chop wood, the ax left a little surface dent and bounced right back at her.
She knew he was strong, but she didn't think he was this strong! Flora was frightened. What if it was her arm being chopped off instead of that log. She reminds herself once again she should not trust people so quickly.
