I believed even the blackest
of souls had the smallest light,
that was until I met the worst
one yet, then that small light
vanished

Taehyung stretched outside the school doors, saying his goodbyes to the other teachers and staff. The meeting was simple yet he was drained from the flood of questions everyone asked seeing his injured lip.

Instead of answering them, he just rolled the excuses off his tongue by either changing the topic or complimenting the person. Urging them forget it.

"Bye Mr.Kim, I look forward to our staff dinner later" the youngest female staff member, an office lady cooed at him. Without giving the lady the luxury of playing along, Taehyung awkwardly smiled, nodding.

"Yeah, see ya" he waved until all teachers left. He only sat down on the steps leading to the entrance of the school, rubbing his temple remembering he told Jimin to tell his father about what he thought.

He rarely ever talked back that way. Last time he did, he was only 9 and beaten so badly that the doctor kept him in the hospital for a week. If his mother hadn't interfered, he thought for sure he could have died.

Now he sat there, fearing the worst when he got home. Mentally preparing himself but he knew his physical body can deal with it. After all he did get beaten since young but he also joined a few fighting gyms.

From boxing to martial arts, he did all he could to endure not only punches but objects as well. That is until a horrid thought crossed his mind.

Yeontan...I left him at home...

Jumping up from the stairs, Taehyung sprinted to his car. Turning on the vehicle and driving off at the speed of light, caring less if he got in trouble with the police later.

"God dammit god dammit god DAMMIT" Taehyung yelled, hitting the steering wheel the closer he got to home. Yeontan, his Pomeranian puppy given to him by the angelic mother he knew.

He wanted nothing more than Yeontans safety. Then Yumis words repeated in his head.

I would take a hundred beatings and a thousand insults

He understood those words when he screeched to a stop behind a black limousine parked in front of his house. He would do the same for Yeontan. Right now, that puppy is the only thing keeping him sane especially after his stupidity earlier today.

As expected when he opened the door, he felt immense pain behind his leg then more on his head being dragged into the living room.

"Let go!" He yelled, kicking and trying to loosen the persons iron grip on his hair. He watched as another person closed the front door, locking it to stand guard.

He knew they most likely have one person guarding every single safe escape. Even a person stood at the end of the stairs and at the very top, he internally sighed hoping he could've yoinked Yeontan then bolt up the stairs to jump out the window.
