Adrien had been staring at the sky through his window, wishing he had been content with that view. He wished he hadn't longed for the outside world and selfishly inflicted his power on others as a result. He wasn't paying attention to anything, shutting out the world around him in favor of the solitude he thought he had escaped, the solitude he thought he deserved for his crimes. Startling him out of his trance of self-loathing was the sudden appearance of a swath of off-white light appearing on a cloud in his vision. It was recognizably cat-shaped, and he instantly knew what it meant. He looked down at his ring, a sense of duty washing over him, but it wavered as he thought of the very reason he wasn't out looking for Ladybug right this very minute. He took in a breath and sighed, curling back up on the bed again. The little black kwami finally knew what to do to comfort his owner, clearing his tiny throat to get the boy's attention, " I think you should go." he said simply.

" But what if I hurt her again?" He whimpered.

" You won't. Just don't use your power."

" It's not that simple, Plagg."

" So what? You can work something out with her, she's got a brain as big as my cheese cravings!" Plagg declared matter-of-factly, " ...most of the time."

Adrien looked towards the window again, " I just don't trust myself, Plagg. Something's going to go wrong, I just know it."

" Never trust your gut instincts, kid! Now just say claws out and go get that bug!"

Adrien nodded, emboldened by his kwami's confidence in him. He transformed into the black cat, bounding out of the open window and into the open Parisian air. He looked around for the source of the signal as he made his way across the rooftops, stopping as he saw Ladybug on the roof of the Grand Palais, his heart wrenching as it skipped a beat. He wanted to go to her, but he could remember the feeling of his hand being drained of power as it touched her delicate form, killing her before she could cry for help. He whimpered softly, just wanting to be held and petted by his lovely lady.

Ladybug was looking around, the basket waiting beside her. She was hoping to see Chat, and her face lit up when she did. The red heroine jumped up and down happily, waving to him. At that point, he couldn't resist, coming up to her until he stood right beside Ladybug. Chat at first tries to hold his arms out to her, but he stopped himself. Ladybug rushed over to him, wrapping him up tightly in her arms as she gleefully cried " Kitty!" she squeezed him as she softly said " You're okay, minou..."

Chat Noir froze for just a few moments, tearing up. He hugged her with just as much tightness, unable to choke back a heartbreaking sob. Ladybug rubbed his back as he shook from crying, tears spilling from his green eyes in droves. He held onto her with all that he had. She was his lifeline and he never wanted to lose her ever again. Ladybug looked up at him with a soft, innocent sparkle in her bluebell eyes. She held his face in her hand gently as she said " You always try to make me feel better when things aren't going well, now it's my turn to do the same for you, Chat," she smiled warmly, " I brought yarn and cookies for you!"

Chat was still crying, but a soft chuckle escaped him, " Y-Yarn?"

Ladybug nodded, still smiling for him. She broke away from the hug, holding onto his hand instead as she went over to the spotlight, turning it off and taking the cloth off of it. She wrapped the large cloth around Chat like a blanket, picking up the basket as she went to sit by the edge of the roof. Chat sat next to her, still holding her hand as she passed him a cookie. As he bit into it, she reached up and touched his fake cat ear, getting startled when it flicked like it was real. He couldn't help but smile a little, seeing the great Ladybug jump at a flicking ear. She laughed, soft and light as she reached back up to pet him. It was Chat's turn to be startled as he began to purr unexpectedly. Ladybug smiled as she kept petting him, watching as his eyes slowly closed in bliss and he leaned into her touch. She pulled him close, resting his head on her shoulder as she rested her own on his.

For a moment, Chat's purring was the only sound between the two, until it was slowly replaced by Chat breathing softly, the petting having calmed into slumber. Ladybug's smile was soft as she gently lowered his head to her lap, him curling up comfortably. She let him sleep for a while, taking deep breaths as she took in the peace of Paris.

After a while, Ladybug's miraculous gave one final beep. She panicked as she began to detransform, slapping a hand over Chat's eyes and startling him awake. " Don't look, Chat! I'm detransformed!" she cried, now as Marinette. Chat kept his eyes closed, the sudden burst of adrenaline thoroughly waking him up. Tikki emerged from the earrings, exhausted. Marinette quickly fed her one if the cookies, keeping a hand over Chat's eyes. Once Tikki was fed, Marinette urgently whispered, " Spots on!"

Now transformed again, she let out a sigh. She reached into the basket again, giving the sleepy cat a cookie as a silent apology. She took a ball of pink yarn from the basket, waiting for him to finish. He looked up at her, the worry fading away before allowing him to smile softly and sit upright. Ladybug held up the yarn ball, " Wanna play, Kitty?" she nervously offered.

Chat looked at his lady and laughed wholeheartedly, " You brought a yarn ball to cheer me up?"

Ladybug's cheeks flushed a bit pink, " Y-You think it's silly?"

Chat smiled broadly, " Yes. But you picked the silliest cat in Paris."

Ladybug sighed in relief, smiling softly back at him. She tossed the ball to Chat, who eagerly caught it. He batted it across the floor, making a show of acting like an oversized cat, which made Ladybug laugh. Chat hit it towards her with a short " To you, m'lady!"

Ladybug made a sound of surprise, fumbling the ball of yarn until she was able to clutch it to her chest. She tossed it back to Chat, and a game of catch ensued. Their laughter became lost in the city's sunset bustle, shared only between them.

It had been ten minutes now since Gabriel had entered his son's empty room, and he had already put the pieces together. The open window let in a gentle breeze as the sunset dyed the room red. He decided that if his theory was correct, the aftermath of a black butterfly's flutter would indeed be cataclysmic.
