Steven the monkey

Zes Pov

        I told him. I shouldn't have told him. It hurt him. I could hear it in his voice. I'm sitting in his lap, his hands are shaky out of shock. I tried to tell him, but he didn't lessen. I rap my arms around his neck and look him in the eye. Both of us have tears flooding our eyes.

"Why didn't you tell someone!" He says almost yelling at me.

"I couldn't" I say hugging him tighter."He said if I told someone I wouldn't live to see my 17th birthday." I say latching my legs around his wast so that I'm like a monkey in a tree.

I wasn't gonna let go. I'm not letting him go back. If he goes back who know what else he'll find at that hell hole. He looks down at me and gives me a weak smile.

"Steven, what time does your dad get home from work?" He asks looking away from my eyes.

"NO!" I yell, then lower my voice. "Please don't" I look down fighting the urge to apologize for raising my voice.

He jumps in surprise when I yelled. I squeeze him with my arms and legs. I'm not letting him go.

"Steven..." He says rubbing my arm.

"Please. Please don't" I say looking up at him giving him the puppy dog eyes that he falls for every time.

He try's to look away but I unlatch one of my arms and use it to move his face back to look back at me. He doesn't resist he let me drag his face to look at me. He looks at me for a second then leans in and kisses me. I was expecting a little peck like we always do but this time he kept going. It was amazing. He pulled away blushing like crazy, matching me. I hadn't noticed that the kiss had made me relax and let go of Anthony. So I was now just sitting in his lap. I had a huge smile on my face. He looked at me worriedly.

"I love you...." I say reassuring him.

"I love you too." He says looking down at me giggling at me.

"Next time you wont be able to escape the puppy dog eyes though." I say jokingly.

"Watch me." He says starting to get up.

Before he has the chance to get of the ground I rap my arms and legs around him and hold on tight. He still stands, me still holding on like a monkey. he looks down at me and giggles.

"hungry?" He asks looking down at me.

I look up at him and nod my head in response.

"Alright, lets go." He says walking over to the door me still rapped around him.

We walk out into the kitchen. Minx walks closer, I tighten my grip on Anthony. I don't want her near me. Anthony shoots me a confused look, witch I return with a worried one. He reaches down and rubbs my cheek, making me feel better.

Chilleds Pov

        I'm in the kitchen with Steven holding onto me, not letting go any time soon. he sees Minx and freezes up. I try to comfort him. I think it helped alittle but he still terrified. I don't blame him. If someone had done that to me for so long I would fear them too. He's permanently scared for life. Some times I'm even hasten to touch him. I don't want him to be scared, but that's hard when everything in his life up to this point has harmed him in some way.

I make us breakfast and we head back to our room to eat, I can get Steven to eat half a surving now! I take our plates back to the kitchen, only to be stopped by Minx....

"I know he's scared of me, but come on." she  says sounding annoyed.

"You just don't understand." I say mad at the comment.

"Then explain." Minx says crossing her arms.

"I'm the only person he trusts." I start. "Every one he has ever come in contact besides me has hurt him. And you haven't helped that." I say looking at Minx waiting for a response.

"I had no choice!" She yells.

"Yes you did! Stop lying to yourself! You could have not chosen to bully others, but you did!" I yell back.

My hands are balled into fists at my sides. I can feel a tear run down my cheek, that I quickly wipe away.

"I-!" Minx starts before shes cut off by. Steven?

"Umm...?" He says standing at the entrance to the hallway. 

"How long have you been there....?" I ask sheepishly, unballing my fists.

"I fallowed you out to make sure you didn't leave again." He said looking down at his feet.

I see a tear fall from his face. I run over to him slowing down as I get closer so I don't scare him.

"I'm gonna touch you." I say reaching out and tilting his head up to look at me.

"Baby, whats wrong?" I ask concerned.

Baby? I'm such a girl.

Then I notice he's, Smiling. He looks at me for a second then hugs me. I'm so confused.

"You stood up for me. again." He says still crying.

"Then why are you crying?" I ask even more confused then before.

"It means so much." Is all he said before letting me go and going back to the room.

I sit there for a minute just smiling before I head back to the room myself.

I think its time we have a first date.
