In The Night | Draco Malfoy

Ch. 2

*Adelaids POV*

I woke up laying down on a rock overlooking this beautiful dark lake. 

"Where the hell am I..? " I whisper to myself. 

Am I dreaming? This isn't my bed. I don't know this place but I feel something inside me saying I belong here. Am I awake? I can't be. I have to be dreaming. "It is stunning here." I say aloud to myself. 

I stand up brushing myself off, "well I might as well explore." Thinking to myself again. 

I turn to walk away from the lake, I walk over a few little hills until I stop at the top of one. A little ways head of me is the most incredible budiling I have ever seen. A huge, basically looks like a giant castle, sits over the hill in front of me. "Woah..." I whisper aloud. 

Just then 3 odd looking people appear before me. I stumble back slightly confused, slightly concerned. 

"Ms. Lozano.. what a pleasure to see you here today." says the one standing in the middle. He is so tall and looks like he could be some kind of God or magical being, I'm thinking to myself. He also has a long white beard that goes down his stomach. "Maybe it's Santa" I say jokingly to myself. 

"Who are you?" I say back. 

"My name is Professor Dumbledore and it seems you have found your way home Ms. Lozano." Dumbledore says back.

"So wait let's go over this again please." I say to all three of them. The information they're throwing at me is insane, I just can't wrap me head around it.

"Ms. Lozano. 20 years ago, there was a dark wizard at large and a great war between the good and dark witches and wizards broke out. This was a terrible time for many, this dark wizard I speak of was cruel and spared no life that got in his way. When he disappeared many were scared and went into hiding or left the magical world. Your family Ms. Lozano, were very powerful during that time and had always been, you come from a very special family tree, my dear. When all of this happened many families made the decision or were sent away from the magical world to protect themselves and their family line, when sent away many were also obliviated for their protection so they wouldn't remember certain things and couldn't be found by He who must not be named, your mother and father were obliviated and Ms. Lozano, no one besides you has found their way back to the magical world, this really is quite astounding." 

"How could this have happened?" The black haired one, I learned to be named Professor Snape said in his low, monotone voice. 

"This was not supposed to happen." The lady with a tight bun, her name is Professor Mcgonagall says in a stern but soft voice seeming concerned.

"You see dear" Dumbledore turns to me. "Things are changing in the magical world. You are apart of that change. You possess a certain power, a strong enough power that unknowingly tapped into it was able to bring you home to us" 

I cut him off "- But I have a home. I have a family. Family that isn't here."

He places a hand on my shoulder "Ms. Lozano dear, you have family here too. You are apart of this world." He begins walking around the room a bit before turning to me again, "You see, time is merely a construct of the mind. You will soon come to realize that within your being here. You are a witch Ms. Lozano and you will soon come to realize the incredible power you hold within you. For now, I encourage you to enjoy being home. Professor Mcgonagall will explain what's to come." He says in a excited tone turning to the Professor at the end. 

Your mind is racking itself. Is this really all true? Wait- 

"Is this true? Am I awake or am I dreaming?!" You say loudly to everyone

"Dreaming or awake, it's all real Ms. Lozano. This is as real as you and I. When we dream we enter a world that is entirely our own. Keep that in mind Ms. Lozano." Dumbledore says kindly. 

You're speechless, your mind is running through a million things. This man speaks in riddles ugh.  You can't think of anything more to say before Professor Mcgonagall is softly pushing you towards the door to leave Dumbledore's office. 

"Student's have not yet arrived for this term but will be arriving here shortly in 3 days. You're 13 correct? She asks.

"Yes ma'am. Almost 14 though." I say with a smile. 

"As so, you will be placed with third year students, they have already been sorted into their houses so you will need to be sorted as well, we will sort you before the first years during the sorting ceremony when students return." She says.

"Excuse me? Sorted? Houses? What do you mean by that?" I say with a confused look. 

"Ah you see, Hogwarts is home to four houses. Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Gryffindors are honest and brave, Slytherins are ambitious and cunning, Ravenclaws are wise and witty and Hufflepuffs are loyal and kind. Your Hogwarts house will become your home inside Hogwarts, you will live in the dorms and have a common room for your house. You can also earn or lose points for your house based on your behavior, so do well to behave Ms. Lozano."

You nod and smile, feeling overwhelmed but excited. Hmmm, I wonder what house I'll be in.. "Headmaster Dumbledore mentioned family?" You say looking to the professor hopeful she will explain.

She nods and turns to me smiling while saying " Yes indeed. You have an aunt and a uncle, Victoria and William Lozano. Very kind people. I will owl to them and let them know you have returned. I'm sure they will be very excited."

"But why didn't they leave the magic world? I thought my family all left?" I question back.

"Your dads of the family was obliviated for their safety since they left he who must not be named, the dark wizard. They feared his return and how their family could be targeted if he were to return. Your great aunt and uncle fought from your moms side against him and were on the other side of the war so they decided to stay. So on your moms side there is Victoria and William and now you of course left in the magical world. "

You smile and nod warmly to her as you continue walking through the halls. It really is beautiful you think to yourself, the stone walls are so comforting and the light shines through the stone designs creating beautiful patterns on the wall. You look off into the distance of into the beautiful lake you first woke by and the mountains that surround it. "So I am a witch? That's pretty badass if I do say so myself." I say to myself.

This is insane you are thinking to yourself, still convinced low key that this is all just a dream thinking you will wake up at any point, but at the same time, everything just feels so real. 

Hellooo again! So we are finally at Hogwarts, I hope what's happening is making sense. Dumbledore is being his good self speaking in riddles like usual but things will unfold more and more as we go. If things aren't making sense please lmk and I will definitely elaborate more and try to help things make sense.
