In The Night | Draco Malfoy

Ch. 7

*Adelaids POV*

*2 weeks later*

Luna and I are walking to DADA class which is taught by Professor Lupin this year. I have really enjoyed the class so far and Professor Lupin seems like a nice guy. Luna, Sophie and I have become really great friends already, we spend a lot of time together in the common room and out in the courtyard. Luna has taught me about the different crystals in the room and their use which is really interesting to me. I've really enjoyed getting to know people at Hogwarts so far, Cedric and I have hung out a few times now and I think he might be the sweetest boy to walk this earth. A pair of redheaded twins and I have become great friends as well, they are masterminds at pranks but sometimes need help planning their execution. That's where I come in. They have also told me that they are going to need to corrupt me by next year, whatever that means. 

I wouldn't say my classes come easily to me but I am excelling in the majority of them already it seems. Classes back home never seemed to work out very well for me but here it seems like things just click. Like I'm supposed to be here doing this. 

Luna and I turn the corner to enter the door into the DADA room when you realize the classroom looks a bit different than usual. All of the desks are gone and in the center of the room next to our professor stands what looks like a giant closet. 

"Hmmm should be a interesting lesson today wouldn't you say Lun?" I ask looking over to Luna.

"Yes it does seem Professor Lupin has something different planned today." She says back with a soft smile. 

The two of you head to join the rest of your classmates standing aways from Lupin and the closet chitchatting a bit before class started. I walk over to say hello to a few of my other friends I have made.

"Hey Hermione!" You say walking over seeing the curly locks of your good friend Hermione Granger. 

"Hi Addie, Hi Luna!" Hermione answers back turning to smile at us.

"How are you ladies today?" Your redhead friend Ron Weasley says popping his head out from behind Hermione, your other friend Harry Potter comes to join giving us a small smile. I haven't become as close with Harry as the other two but he's always been very friendly.  

"We're good Ron, excited to see what Lupin has in store for class today." 

"Gather round students, come on over!" Professor Lupin announces to the class gathering everyone's attention. 

You all walk up towards the professor as the closet begins shaking from the inside making everyone quiet and stare at the closet, he continues speaking, "Intriguing isn't it?"

The closet shakes again. 

"Would anyone like to take a guess as to what's inside?" the professor asks. 

"That's a boggart that is." A student speaks up but you can't see who.

I remember reading about boggarts in one of my books, I wonder what my biggest fear is, I think to myself. 

"Very good Mr. Thomas."

"Now can anyone tell me what a boggart looks like?" the professor asks while continuing to walk around the room.  

"No one knows. Boggarts are shapeshifters They take the shape of whatever the particular person fears the most. That's why they're so terr-" I answer confidently remembering have read that in the book before Professor Lupin cuts me off,

"That's what makes them so terrifying. Yes yes. Luckily a few simple charm exists to repel a boggart. Let's practice it now. Without wands please, after me." The professor says.
