I felt something penetrate my stomach. I gasp in pain. Opening my eyes wide, I see Matthew hovering over me. A knife in his fist. He's just stabbed me. Pain radiates within me. Blood seeps from my wound, spreading against the white of my sleep shirt.
Betrayal hurts.
I blink away the tears forming in my eyes. Matthew's eyes are wild and dark. One look and I broke. There was no grief in his eyes. Nothing at all. He felt nothing. There was no chance for forgiveness. He accepted the darkness within me in a way I never thought he would.
Darkness is where I'd return.
Darkness is my comfort.
He plunges the knife in deeper. I gasp, feeling blood run out of my mouth.
"This is what you deserve," he darkly snarls. It was cruel. It only made tears come faster.
I accept my fate at his hands. I'd rather he kill me than anyone else. Struggling to give him a smile, I say: "I love you."
