I was nervous. I was sweating. I was dreading this encounter in every shape, way and form. But what choice did I have? Yesterday's fight had put Chaeyoung, Hoseok and I over the edge; we were sick and tired of the endless fighting. Taehyung seemed unwilling to let up, but we had never spoken directly to Jungkook himself.
And now I was being forced to do the horrible task.
That brought me to my current unfortunate position, as I paced back and forth in front of Jeon Jungkook's locker. A few other early rising students were staring at me oddly as I kept glancing up at the entrance. I wasn't exactly scared of confronting Jungkook... oh, no that wasn't the problem. It was the possibility of seeing Taehyung. If he saw me talking with his sworn enemy, he would never speak to me again even if his life depended on it.
"Well, someone looks anxious." Someone's voice came up behind me. I spun around immediately, surprised to see Jungkook leaning against his locker, arms crossed over his chest. "Your current demeanor gives me the hint that Taehyung has no idea that you're here talking to me and if he knew," he tapped his chin mockingly before sneering at me, "your dear lover would dump you in a second."
"Look, I don't want to be here as much as you want me here." I retorted, unconsciously taking a step back from him. If Taehyung did in fact see is standing together, I could pretend that I was waiting for someone else and Jungkook just happened to be harassing me. Unfortunately, that'd probably instigate another fight, but that wasn't my main concern at the moment. "I need to talk to you about this stupid thing you have against Taehyung."
"What we do is none of your business." He spat back. I cocked an eyebrow at him as he looked away, instead focusing his attention at his locker. "So now if you'd kindly get the fuck away, I would really appreciate it."
The nerve of this man...
"No." I snapped. "I'm not going anywhere until I get a simple explanation as to why you can't stop kicking his ass every other day."
At that comment, Jungkook looked up at me, a smirk plastered on his face. "I wonder what Kim Taehyung would say, knowing that his girlfriend thinks I'm better than he is."
"I never said that, stop twisting my words. Believe me; I don't think that highly of you at all." In response he merely snorted but said nothing else. "I'm not kidding around anymore. What can I do to stop this stupid argument?"
"Listen." Jungkook sighed, straightening up to his full height. I faltered a little bit seeing him like this; he was not a small guy. His eyes bore straight into mine relentlessly and now, I was beginning to wonder why I even agreed to this stupid plot in the first place. Reminder to self: destroy Hoseok later. "Even if I do tell you what's going on between me and Taehyung, you wouldn't understand. I'll give the kid credit; he's not lying to you. Don't question it and just accept the fact that we simply never will get along."
"But why not?" I whined, regretting so immediately. The look of incredulity was blatantly obvious on Jungkook's face as his tired look was replaced by a mocking smirk. "I mean, couldn't you just go about your day ignoring each other? Why do you have to beat each other up so freaking often? Who has that much anger anyways..." I trailed off slowly, looking past Jungkook's shoulder. Unfortunately, I could see his gang coming up from behind and I was starting to fear for my life. I wouldn't put it past them to pick on a girl, especially me considering my connection to their ringleader's contempt for my boyfriend.
Jungkook must have noticed my sudden lack of attention, for he turned around to see where I was looking at. Seeing his friends, he merely flicked them off with a wave of his wrist. They stared for a moment but noticed me and with snide looks on their face, walked off. "I'll talk with them later about speaking to your lover boy, if that's what you're worried about." Jungkook said, interrupting my analysis of what was going on around me. "Anyway, Lisa- yes, I know your name, don't look so surprised." He snapped, probably from the apparent face that I was making. "There's nothing you can do that can change what's going on between Taehyung and I. Until he can finally fess up to his mistakes, there's nothing that I can do. It depends on him and I doubt he'll be doing that any time soon."
