A few days had passed since Awsten had left me standing dumbfounded in my room. We had texted back and forth a few times since then, and to me, it seemed awkward. I don't know about him, but that kiss made me feel... something. It was just a kiss on the cheek! He had done it plenty of times in the past, but something about this one made me feel strange. It was as if I was in a daze, like his kiss had drugged me somehow. And my parents seemed to notice.

"You okay?" my mom would ask several times a day.

"Yeah, of course," I'd reply, not wanting to concern her. But truth be told, I wasn't sure if I was actually okay. I wasn't upset, but I wasn't feeling like myself.

No matter what thought came across my mind, they'd always end up being about him. Awsten, I mean. 

Calm down, Rayne. It's probably just a crush! You've had one on him before, in the past, and it faded within a week. This is nothing.

So I tried to brush it off, with some success. I spent my days helping my mother straighten around the house, and gave my dad a hand with cleaning the debris the tropical storm had left around the yard. But anytime I was alone with my thoughts, they would always go straight back to that green-haired boy I'd known since middle school.

Maybe if I can spend some time with him I'll see that he's just brother material, like he has been since I'd met him. It's strange to develop a crush on someone you see as a sibling, so let's try to get rid of it by being around him and realizing that this isn't someone I should have a thing for.

So, I came up with a plan. I looked online at the city's website and searched for any upcoming events that I could invite Awsten - and maybe some extra friends - along for a get-together. After an hour of clicking and scrolling, I found nothing.

Damn, guess we gotta go to plan B. But what is plan B? 

I came up with something, so I shot a text to Otto.

out with me again! just invite another friend of yours
and lets play some pool or some crap like that.
